As much as Ryo loves Dee, being in a serious, committed relationship with the man he spends every working day with can be profoundly inconvenient. It’s unfair to say that Dee has a one-track mind, because he doesn’t, not any more than most men. He’s perfectly capable of pushing thoughts of sex to the back of his mind and focusing on work for hours on end. When they’re taking statements from crime victims, interviewing witnesses, interrogating suspects, chasing down leads, Dee’s mind is as much in the here and now as Ryo’s is.
Dee is a dedicated police officer, fully committed to making the streets of New York safer. There’s no one Ryo would rather have covering his back in a dangerous situation, especially since he knows the man he loves is equally committed to his protection. Naturally, that goes both ways; as work partners and lovers they’re each other’s first priority.
But when things are quiet at the precinct, when they’re waiting on Jim in the lab to get back to them with a fingerprint match, DNA results, tox report, whatever, or when all that’s left to do is paperwork…
If there’s one aspect of the job that Dee completely loathes, it’s paperwork. Used to be, he’d dump all of it off on Ryo, but nowadays Ryo has ways of… persuading Dee to do his share. Nevertheless, Dee can be counted on to grow bored after a while, and then it’s his turn to try his hand at some persuasion.
He may not be completely obsessed with sex, but that doesn’t mean he’s not an unrepentant hornball. Ryo’s well aware that sex is Dee’s go-to cure for boredom. When he’s fed up with what he’s doing, nothing lifts his spirits and helps him focus better than a make-out session, a hand job, blowjob, stimulating but messy frottage… the list goes on and on. He’s up for anything.
He’s up for something right now. Ryo is trying to concentrate; he’s nearly finished filling in one of the many forms that are part of the job and he doesn’t want to make a mistake. He’d have to start over. But beneath their back-to-back desks Dee’s socked foot is rubbing against Ryo’s ankle, sliding up his calf.
“We should head down to the lab, see if we can persuade Jim to speed things up.”
Dee doesn’t mean that, of course; what he means is, ‘We should go down to the file room and have some fun’.
Ryo pretends not to get the message though.
“Jim will call when he has something for us. Don’t be so impatient.” He returns his attention to the form in front of him.
“Aw, c’mon, Ryo! I need a break!”
“So go get a coffee. You can get one for me while you’re at it.”
A frustrated grumble reaches his ears, and Ryo stifles a sigh. He’s busy, Dee inevitably picks the least convenient moments, but Ryo knows sooner or later he’ll give in. Dee always wins.
