A/N: Double drabble.
Ianto is intimately familiar with every inch of the SUV’s glossy black bodywork; keeping Torchwood Three’s official vehicle in tip-top condition is, after all, among his duties.
He makes sure her petrol tank is kept topped up, that her windows are clean and all her lights in working order. He keeps her tyres at optimum pressure for the smoothest possible ride, whether on city roads or rough country tracks. Her engine is tuned to perfection, her oil changed regularly, her interior cleared of muck and rubbish after every mission, and her paintwork washed and waxed to a high shine. It gives the right impression, of efficiency and preparedness, even if it doesn’t prevent Cardiff’s citizens from constantly cursing both Torchwood and their vehicle.
This morning when he does his morning check on her, making sure all the equipment she carries is in order, there’s a scratch on her bonnet, a long and very obvious one. He storms up to Jack’s office.
“What the hell did you do to the SUV this time?”
Jack looks sheepish. “Um, I had to climb on the bonnet to get over a fence. I was hoping you wouldn’t notice before I could get it fixed.”
