A/N: Double drabble. Set in my Ghost of a Chance ‘Verse.
The vast marketplace was bustling, vendors and shoppers of half a hundred alien races milling about, laden with bags of shopping, or pushing carts displaying their wares. Rows of brightly coloured stalls and booths were surrounded by customers haggling with the proprietors, various currencies changing hands, while the air was filled with strange scents, music, and voices speaking a dozen or more languages.
Ianto stuck close to Jack, not wanting to get lost. He’d never seen anywhere quite like this before, a peculiar mix of middle-eastern bazaar, farmer’s market, craft fair, and car boot sale, and even though this wasn’t his first alien planet, he was feeling a bit out of his depth.
He and Jack had been travelling aboard the Happy Wanderer for several months, plying their trade as hauliers, transporting cargo from one planet to another, but they’d come here to pick up some trade goods of their own.
“Just don’t eat or drink anything without asking me first, especially not if someone offers you a free sample.”
“Why not?”
“If it’s free it’s probably drugged and you’ll wake up in a back alley, stripped and robbed.”
“Speaking from experience, are you?”
Jack grinned. “Those were fun times.”
