A/N: Double drabble.
A thing had appeared through the Rift out near Cardiff University. It was just sitting there, looking vaguely threatening, so Jack had called in the police to keep the pubic back, well away from the potential danger zone.
The whole Torchwood team was there, milling around, studying the thing, taking readings on various gadgets, trying to determine whether or not it was dangerous, but so far they were baffled.
Detective Inspector Kathy Swanson was inside the police cordon with the team. “Any idea what it is?” she asked Jack, warily eyeing the scaly blue-grey object. It was about eighteen inches tall, roughly ovoid, with two blobs sticking out of the rounded end and the more pointed end wedged in the loose soil of a flowerbed, amongst the marigolds and petunias.
“Not a clue,” Jack admitted. “It’s registering as both organic and inorganic, which makes no sense. On the plus side, it doesn’t appear to be a bomb.”
The blobs on the top moved.
“Oh, me ‘ead!” A muffled voice groaned.
Moving quickly, Jack grabbed the thing, pulling it out of the ground and turning it upright. Tiny arms flailed and a visor was raised.
“Armoured alien,” Jack grinned. “Mystery solved.”
