A/N: Double drabble.
Jack had done it again, leaving the SUV in a ‘No Parking’ zone and earning Torchwood yet another parking ticket.
“This has to stop!” Ianto sighed as Jack sheepishly handed it to him. “I can’t expect Kathy to keep fixing these for us, and paying them would cost a fortune.”
“It’s not my fault!” Jack protested. “There were no parking spaces available and it was an emergency! It’s not like we can ask the Rift to dump dangerous objects somewhere more convenient. If I’d left that grenade where it was long enough to find somewhere to park, people could’ve been killed.”
It was a valid point. Not everything that fell through the Rift was innocuous; they got alien weapons and explosives, which could do untold harm if fooled around with by someone who didn’t know what they were doing. Then there were rogue weevils, dangerous alien creatures, and the occasional invasion force, none of which could safely be left to their own devices while Torchwood drove around looking for somewhere to park.
Ianto said as much to Kathy. “The SUV is essentially an emergency response vehicle,” he pointed out.
“Suppose I’d better issue Torchwood with an official police parking permit.”
