Summary: Losing your phone is easy; finding it when the battery is dead is a lot harder.

“You’ll lose your head one of these days,” Dee grinned, watching Ryo practically turn the sofa upside down as he searched for his missing phone. The smaller mobiles became, the easier it got to lose them; they’d slide out of pockets and vanish without a trace. In theory, they should be easy to find, just dial the number and follow the ringtone, but that only worked if the phone was within hearing range, charged, and switched on.
“You could at least help me look,” Ryo grumbled, glancing back over his shoulder.
“How come you didn’t put it on charge last night?”
“I meant to, but I was tired and I forgot. It happens.” Ryo shoved the cushions back on the sofa; his phone wasn’t there.
“Okay, just stop a minute and calm down. You had it yesterday when you left work; I know because you called Bikky to say goodnight. What did you do when you got home?”
“Had a shower, made myself a sandwich, then went to bed. Why?”
Dee didn’t reply, just headed for the kitchen and made straight for the breadbin, opening it. There was Ryo’s missing phone.
“How’d you know?”
“Seemed the logical place to look.”
