Thank you! We're getting there -- I'm still trying to remember where I put things in the kitchen, and the dogs are getting used to the new yard (they have a very restricted area, due to the type of fencing used and to the fire ants). Once we get the two rooms settled and I get the desks and bookcases, things will fall into place and it will look more like a home than a storage unit.

Not having a close-by Costco is killing me, though. We're used to having to drive to one, but the closest two were half an hour away -- the closest one now is over an hour. Not fun.

Great to hear that you and the menagerie made it to the warmth of Florida.

Would that it were warm! We're having a cold snap right now, and even had frost on the car and on the grass one morning last week. Although in relation to NJ (Bayonne was due for 3 inches of snow yesterday), it definitely is much warmer.

Pepper is her normal, garrulous self -- I was terrified that the trip would traumatize her. I'm so glad I was wrong. The birds aren't quite used to the later time of sunrise here (hell, I'm not used to it. I love my early mornings, and dawn is coming a lot later than I'm used to, even given the fact that winter days are shorter), so we don't get the usual "Good morning. Turn the light on," from Pepper and Suzie that we did at home. They'll all be happier once they're back in their regular cages, though they won't see quite as much activity in their own room as they do now.

And I love your Seaview icon!

Ah. Parrot alarm clocks. My own alarm clock is a bunch of cats walking across me.

The icon is super, isn't it? melodyclark made it for my birthday last year. Wasn't it good of her? Especially as our shared fandoms (Blake's Seven, Criminal Minds, Star Trek XI and others) do not include Voyage!

Melody did a great job with the icon.

Our alarm clocks wag their tails and stick cold noses in our faces. I think they're happy they no longer have to use a flight of steps into and out of the back yard (I know Molly is -- at 11, she was having trouble with the last step onto the back porch for about the last 6 months, so I'd boost her up when she wanted in).

I'm usually awake before the parrots, but left the light off in their room (which was also my office) until I heard them moving around. Pepper started saying "Good morning," about a year ago, then added "Turn the light on," around May. Suzie (not much of a talker) picked up both phrases from her, though they're not nearly as clear as Pepper's speech. Pepper's speech is so clear that people on the other end of a phone conversation can understand every word.

Thanks, kiddo. For some reason, you were on my mind a lot during the ride down.

You know what surprised me? Bobby really liked the new Trek movie. He is such a TOS traditionalist, I thought he'd hate it -- but he asked to watch it several times, even immediately after we'd finished one viewing. It was a lovely surprise from the man who has never watched Generations because Kirk dies.

My gosh, I can't believe you're in Florida! I'll always think of you as a Jersey girl LOL. You'll have to message me your new address so I can update everything.

I may live in Florida, but I'll always be a Jersey girl at heart. Really -- can you ever imaging my accent disappearing?

Thank you. So far, we're very happy to be here. And tomorrow is our first Christmas. We'll probably spend it putting together the second TV stand, and maybe getting my office set up.

We've got new furniture arriving on Monday -- a couch and two recliners. Now, if the washer and dryer would only get here....
