Looking for a good e-newsletter and email service

May 31, 2012 11:52

Got a question for my friends who send out e-newsletters: what service do you use for this sort of thing or for mass emails? A couple of groups I work with are looking for a decent email service that (a) doesn't trigger spam filters, (b) is relatively easy to use, and (c) is fairly cheap. Ideas?

I know several businesses that find Constant Contact to be easy to use and effective.

Somerville Open Studios uses Constant Contact and is happy with that. Arisia uses Mailchimp, but I don't think we have enough experience there to say whether we really like it. I have heard good things about Mailgun as well but have no personal experience with it.

My church uses MailChimp. It's easy enough for our office manager to use, and we've had only a few problems with mail filters.

I know several artists and businesses that use Constant Contact. I've heard from a few that they won't touch Constant Contact, one of which is a computer repair service. I forget exactly what the circumstances are that encouraged that emphatic dislike. I, myself, use MailChimp and really, really like it! It is easy to use, Tech Support is extremely prompt, useful and friendly and I like the business-like, yet casually friendly attitude that permeates MailChimp. I check my stats regularly and I've seen no problems with inbox/spammy stuff.
