I told
amyhit I would try to find the infamous original script for Never Again. If there's one thing Haven is great for is to find lost or fogotten stuff. Over there, Konrad found me a
Wayback link (which was really kind of him as he really hates that ep). The page belonged to someone named Laura Witte whom I mailed to let her know I was going to copy

I love reading original scripts, especially those heavily based on character development.
So now I can say that I'm right in believing Ed&Scully had teh sex? :D Knowing that it actually was in the script in the first place makes me feel like CC really is a prude :p Oh, well.
Thanks a lot for sharing this!! :)

I Know Right? I had such a huge grin on my face the first time I stumbled upon this.

I was always convinced they had sex even before reading this script. Ed is wearing different trousers in the morning and come on, Scully's been sleeping in his shirt!
CC never had a clue how to handle Scully as a sexual being. *shrug*

I thought that she had sex with him as well.
XD yep he is :p lol, not so much now with letting M & S French kiss in IWTB... still being coy about it though -_-... come on Chris, you can't make a French kiss look that way, it just doesn't work ;) XD...

So since you guys consider this sex scene to be canon, do you consider exactly what was written to be what happened? In the scene that was written there didn't appear to be much time for either of them to grab a condom? Does that mean that you think they decided to forgo the condom and have unprotected sex?

The only argument of those who claim Ed and Scully never had sex are her stockinged feet. Obviously these people don't know about thigh-high-stockings.
On the "they so did it side" we have:
A very turned on Scully when Ed catches her arm.
She's wearing his shirt the next day, even though she did bring a bag with a change of clothes.
Ed is wearing jeans in the morning.

I'm sure this is the unpopular opinion, but over all I think I like the aired version, actually.
I like the differences in Mulder and Ed in this version. Mulder seems a lot less of an asshole, and Ed seems a lot more together on the outside, which makes Scully's actions concerning him seem a lot less ill-considered.
But I find I'm glad for the ambiguity the aired version allowed Scully's character. And there's no way I'm buying that she dropped out of med school and briefly became a punk.
It was cool to read this though. Thanks so much for digging it up.

I don't buy the punk thing either. As Vittalani says below, this is more Gillian than Scully.
I too find the ambiguity more interesting in the ep, though I wouldn't have minded to see *that* scene between Ed and Scully because dayum! It sounded hot. *g*

There are, however, very nice insights to both Scully and Mulder in the original script.

But yes, it was interesting to see what the writers had initialy intended.
