[ Welp, this was certainly turning out to be a fantastic New Year. Dave wasn't particularly sure if John was ever going to talk to him again, at the even more fantastic rate they were going so far, he had started feeling pretty miserable partway through their stay in Kyoto-- which had developed quite rapidly, much to his chagrin-- and now all of ( Read more... )

[Almost the entirety of John's lack of contact with Dave was out of fear of irritating the cool kid after his display on Christmas. Well, that and the fact that he was very adamantly ignoring the Feelings that were haunting him thereafter. He wasn't thinking about it, so it wasn't there, and so he avoided Dave, too, because that prolonged having to think about everything ( ... )

[ There was the silverlining of him getting sick: one couldn't really think when their sinuses were clogged and making everything hazy and heavy. Dave could at least see the merit of it, even if it was annoying and frustrating and he almost wanted to have to try and ignore Feelings again. Still, it was easier to be annoyed at himself for getting sick than it was for him to be annoyed at himself for kissing John and worrying about whether or not his best friend would talk to him again.

Probably. Maybe. Hopefully. All of John's hate lie with the Batterwitch, so there wasn't much room for anyone else. Not really.

Didn't stop him from worrying about it, though.

In the moment that he was about to approach John, he'd brought his hand up to pinch at the bridge of his nose in an attempt to relieve pressure. It wasn't cool to go around blowing your nose in the hallways, so he hadn't though to bring kleenex with him or something. It meant he missed seeing John at first, at least until he noticed familiar blue out of the corner of his eye ( ... )

[His reaction was immediate, and he didn't even bother to think about it-- it wasn't awkward, in that moment, because Dave obviously felt like shit, and the worry overrided John's fear of dealing with the situation and he just quirked a funny little grin as he moved forward to take Dave's jug of apple juice before he dropped it.]

Geez, did you catch pneumonia without me around to teach you how to weather the elements?

[Once he was close enough, he was extremely careful with how he moved. He was slow and pointed about it, to show Dave he was just intending to take the juice, and everything about his posture bled apology. He kept eye contact, though, and found Dave's hand to carefully pry his fingers from the jug of juice.]

...you're not wearing your shades. [The assessment was belated, and the only time John looked away from the ruddy brown of Dave's eyes.]

Yes, this's 'xactly what happened. [ Dave, at least, could still be a smartass while sick. He crinkled his nose suddenly, though, and turned his head away while bringing an arm up so he could sneeze into his elbow so as not to spread germs at John. Ugh, fuck. That out of the way, he looked back at John, observing him almost foggily with his off-colored eyes and slowly processing what he was doing.

When he realized, he let John pry his fingers free and sort of leaned a bit so he could rest a shoulder into the nearby wall. Almost immediately, though he was sore and tired and very much full of misery, he seemed to actually relax, as if the unspoken apology was accepted and things were right as rain again.

He sniffled, which said otherwise. But at least between them it was.

With the assessment, he shrugged a little sluggishly. ] Sure as shit didn't wanna break 'em, 'n the Manor made me kinda funny, anyways. No timey-wimey shit, no tickin'. [ He pointed to his eyes. ] Not m'eyes.
