[Well to anyone walking past the Parlor would probably notice... well...

a significant lack of parlor.

It seems the author was all for setting up a little birthday surprise for the teen... which said teen didn't appreciate. Having a birthday on the anniversary of the death of your mother doesn't exactly make it a happy day. After he was done ( Read more... )

[When something is blown up it's not exactly hard to tell who's responsible for it. Ryuutaro just stood there for a moment, staring at the mess. Then he spinned around and stepped to Hayato's room.
Technically he'd not planned on staying inside for long, sharpedo was outside in the water after all (creepy shark or not, Ryuutaro just had to like it), but this was urgent.
Either Hayato had picked a fight with someone in which case it was good to look if he was injured or something else had happened and then it'd be very good to check on him as well.

Reaching the door, he knocked softly, opening the door a bit]

... Hayato?

[Oh god, he's not going to discuss this further. Ryuutaro's a total occult nerd himself, but in different terms. Honestly, he doesn't even believe in creatures like that too much (or didn't use to. In Badfic he believes in anything). He knows magic is mostly fake, even if he makes people believe what he does is the real deal.]

Then you're more knowledgeable than I am in terms of this.

[He just shrugs, not holding much stock in the compliment. Doesn't have the energy to try and argue it or revel in it today. He pats his Ogopogo on the head, then, stuffing his hands in his pockets turns to his friend]

Come on, let's get out of here.

[Not like Ryuutaro aimed for such a reaction this time. Making compliments - let them be honest or not- just came natural to him. The boy nods and walks to the door together with Hayato]

Sure, that's the intention.

[So... what to do with Hayato now. What do, what do, what do. This was exactly the reason social relationships were a nuisance sometimes.]

[He follows Ryuutaro through the halls, noticing just how awkward things are between them again... and he starts to feel guilty.]

...You don't have to do this y'know. I'm bringin' you down too. You shouldn't have to be miserable today... it's not like any of this is your problem. I'll be fine just... sleepin' this off or somethin'.

[This. Hayato, you might need to stop walking now because suddenly Ryuutaro is in front of you, stopping. This. This so earns you a fan-shush]

I'm not that easily 'brought down' and I'm perfectly well aware that I don't have to. If I had to, you could be very sure that I wouldn't be here.

[Cages and bonds... Ryuutaro still does not like them.]

I'd be very thankful if you'd finally stop assuming I'd be so easily forced into things. I'm capable of making my own choices.
And my choice is to spend this day with you, if you are willing to let me.

[Naturally he goes cross-eyed and the sudden fan on his mouth, the surprise briefly wiping the melancholy look from his face for a moment. But only a moment. He bites his lip and looks off to the side as he tries to once again figure out why Ryuutaro would go this far for him...

It didn't make sense... at least not to him. But he wouldn't let Ryuutaro wait for an answer. He was sticking his neck out for him after all. Ryuutaro was... a really good friend.

He looks back up to his friend with a weak smile.]

Thanks.

[And some might've thought Ryuutaro was a hard case in terms of friendship. The fortune-teller smiles, though he feels more like sighing]

You're always welcome.

[After so many weeks of figuring this out, even fighting it, Ryuutaro is now very sure he just wants to go through with this friendship-thing. Even if it was extremely exhausting.]

[And believe it or not, he is in a bit better spirits. He's still a bit sluggish and gloomy, but there's a little smile on his face. Unfortunately he's still far more quiet then he should be as he follows his good friend outside]

[Well, that smile is at least something. For a moment Ryuutaro just stays silent as well, but he wasn't planning to make it last long. Silence meant giving Hayato time to think and got lost in that...]

So how's your week been so far? It looks like you've made friends with the Ogopgo very quickly...

[When they step outside Hayato pauses and closes his eyes and takes a deep breath of the fresh air. It was pretty nice. As they continue Hayato spots a soccer ball or football, whatever the hell you call the damn thing sitting idly on the grounds.]

It's been good, been takin' notes on all the U.M.A.'s and stuff. Especially the Ogopogo. It seemed to warm up to me real fast after I fed it.

[When they get close enough to the ball Hayato idly starts playing around with it with his feet. He had still been walking with a bit of a limp, not so much because of the pain, but because it had been hurting for so long he had just gotten into the habit of limping. Maybe later he would try playing around with the ball a bit to try and set his leg straight.]

[Ryuutaro just smiles a bit. Being outside makes everything better, he knew it.]

Food often makes a start for the best connections. Let it be among humans or accross the bonds of species.

[Believe him. He knows. Most people of his world will easily be caught with food. Very, very easily. The mighty Ginga Hagane being among them. Burgers. Ryuutaro saw him talking about those on TV...]

[A little cynical smirk spread across the teen's face for a moment]

Tch, unless it's my sister with the food...

[No species typically lasted long when she was around...

Hayato kicks the ball up and starts bouncing it on his knee for a moment, then switches to bouncing it on his bad leg, and it's doing fine. He grimaced a bit ere and there from a few dull aches, but he was just about fully recovered. Satisfied with the little test, Gokudera kicks the ball over to the manor porch. He'd mess around with it more some other time.]

There's always exceptions.

[Ryuutaro watches that ball fly off. It was really good to see Hayato use his leg like this... If he even thought about seeing it off... ugh, not he'd rather not think about that ever again]

[He rubs a bit of soreness away from him leg before stuffing his hands in his pockets and continuing on next to his friend]

Sucks bein' related to that exception.

[He shrugs]

But what am I gonna do, she's still my sister.
