[Well to anyone walking past the Parlor would probably notice... well...
a significant lack of parlor.
It seems the author was all for setting up a little birthday surprise for the teen... which said teen didn't appreciate. Having a birthday on the anniversary of the death of your mother doesn't exactly make it a happy day. After he was done

Technically he'd not planned on staying inside for long, sharpedo was outside in the water after all (creepy shark or not, Ryuutaro just had to like it), but this was urgent.
Either Hayato had picked a fight with someone in which case it was good to look if he was injured or something else had happened and then it'd be very good to check on him as well.
Reaching the door, he knocked softly, opening the door a bit]
... Hayato?

Then you're more knowledgeable than I am in terms of this.

Come on, let's get out of here.

Sure, that's the intention.
[So... what to do with Hayato now. What do, what do, what do. This was exactly the reason social relationships were a nuisance sometimes.]

...You don't have to do this y'know. I'm bringin' you down too. You shouldn't have to be miserable today... it's not like any of this is your problem. I'll be fine just... sleepin' this off or somethin'.

I'm not that easily 'brought down' and I'm perfectly well aware that I don't have to. If I had to, you could be very sure that I wouldn't be here.
[Cages and bonds... Ryuutaro still does not like them.]
I'd be very thankful if you'd finally stop assuming I'd be so easily forced into things. I'm capable of making my own choices.
And my choice is to spend this day with you, if you are willing to let me.

It didn't make sense... at least not to him. But he wouldn't let Ryuutaro wait for an answer. He was sticking his neck out for him after all. Ryuutaro was... a really good friend.
He looks back up to his friend with a weak smile.]
Thanks.

You're always welcome.
[After so many weeks of figuring this out, even fighting it, Ryuutaro is now very sure he just wants to go through with this friendship-thing. Even if it was extremely exhausting.]

So how's your week been so far? It looks like you've made friends with the Ogopgo very quickly...

It's been good, been takin' notes on all the U.M.A.'s and stuff. Especially the Ogopogo. It seemed to warm up to me real fast after I fed it.
[When they get close enough to the ball Hayato idly starts playing around with it with his feet. He had still been walking with a bit of a limp, not so much because of the pain, but because it had been hurting for so long he had just gotten into the habit of limping. Maybe later he would try playing around with the ball a bit to try and set his leg straight.]

Food often makes a start for the best connections. Let it be among humans or accross the bonds of species.
[Believe him. He knows. Most people of his world will easily be caught with food. Very, very easily. The mighty Ginga Hagane being among them. Burgers. Ryuutaro saw him talking about those on TV...]

Tch, unless it's my sister with the food...
[No species typically lasted long when she was around...
Hayato kicks the ball up and starts bouncing it on his knee for a moment, then switches to bouncing it on his bad leg, and it's doing fine. He grimaced a bit ere and there from a few dull aches, but he was just about fully recovered. Satisfied with the little test, Gokudera kicks the ball over to the manor porch. He'd mess around with it more some other time.]

[Ryuutaro watches that ball fly off. It was really good to see Hayato use his leg like this... If he even thought about seeing it off... ugh, not he'd rather not think about that ever again]

Sucks bein' related to that exception.
[He shrugs]
But what am I gonna do, she's still my sister.
