Page Thirteen || Month of my life [Video]

May 30, 2011 16:33

[When Light wakes up this morning, he feels, for once, well rested. Stretching as he rolls out of bed, he grabs his phone to check the time. However, it's not the time that alarms him, it's the date. The thirtieth of May? He rubs his eyes furiously, suddenly very awake. Had he really spent a month sleeping? He had heard of people falling asleep for ( Read more... )

[[Ohoho. Smugass is on his little picture box thing here.]]

You missed everything. I don't think there's been something so amazing in all my god damn years of life, Kid.

[Kid? A raised eyebrow. For no other reason other than slight petulance, Light keeps his end of the feed on video. He may have overslept... well, perhaps overslept was a gross understatement, but his memory of this person's voice is still there. This was the delusional person Light had caught mumbling to himself in the hallway prior to falling asleep. Greed, he had called himself, if his memory wasn't failing him after apparently a month of disuse. Frowning slightly, he speaks keeping his tone light.]

Light, actually. [Slightly clipped.] So if you don't mind my asking, what exactly was so amazing. Mr....?

[[Greed smirks, pulling his glasses down with his left hand to show off his marking, then stares right into the screen. Being his usual douchey self, Greed then chuckles a small sound at Light correcting him about his name. The hell kinda name is Light anyway?]]

'S what I said; Kid.

[[Huh. He hasn't heard Mister Greed in quite some weeks, pang of nostalgia that doesn't display anywhere else. His smirk turns into a shark tooth grin and he pushes his glasses back up, replacing his hand in what can only be the pocket from the angle his elbow's at.]]

Greed.
As for what you missed-- I told you, everything. Beaches, monsters, murders. All the usual stuff idiots like around here it seems.

[Off camera, Light's fists ball very slightly; he took to condescension very poorly, even when it was subtle. Having it rubbed in his face, isn't doing Greed any favors. However, as only a true idiot would go around proclaiming their hold on the world without some kind of power to back it up, there has to be more to Greed than simply being an annoying bastard. The mark is something unexpected- a tattoo of some sort?-- obviously it had some sort of significance if he is flaunting it as it were. What that significance might be, however, isn't something that can be ascertained. Not at the moment anyway, but he makes a mental note of it.

Beaches, monsters and murder all check off on the list of stupid things the Author frequently subjected them all to, and frankly he's thrilled he missed the latter two. Odd how some of the most irritating things at the Manor started with M. Monsters, Murders, Mello.]

I hardly think anyone here enjoys any of the nonsense the Author puts us through, though yes, I'll give you that there are a fair share of ( ... )

A few things have happened. Two weeks ago we were on an island. I never went to a beach before, it was fun.

[Pauses for a moment.]

By the way, just where did you go?

Re: Video finalarbiter May 30 2011, 21:38:39 UTC
An island? [His tone is inquisitive. He's not sure if he should feel relieved by the fact that he missed a so-called field trip, or disappointed. Those at least were usually moderately harmless. Though.. he had noticed that usually wasn't the case anymore.] That must have been enjoyable- [Pause. He'd taken it for granted that Oz had been from a variant of Earth, but a secondary thought occurs to Light.] ....wait, where are you from originally if you've never been to a beach?

[He blinks at the question. As far as he was aware, he hadn't gone anywhere, but had the Author tampered with his body somehow? He certainly hadn't felt any different but he makes a mental reminder to check more thoroughly later.]

...A-ah, [Small laugh.] I don't think I went anywhere. I fell asleep and when I woke up, I realized I had been out for much longer than I should have been. I- It's confusing. Has everything been alright?

[He pauses before he spoke. Did he ever tell anyone where he was from, thinking about it, he was sure he never did. So that meant no one knew. Woops.]

I'm from Lebleux. I never really went out much because of studies.

[So, had he left the manor or was he just in his room. He knew he should have gone there to check, but he didn't.]

Things have been as fine as they can here.

Video finalarbiter May 31 2011, 23:16:07 UTC
Is that in France?

[He tries to pin Lebleux mentally on a map, though he can't say that he's ever heard of such a place.]

So then nothing significant happened? [Figures. The Author never had anything important happen in her so-called "plots."] Well, I guess that's a blessing of sorts that I missed the usual "fun."

[Even though the idea that the Author can mess around with his sleeping habits leaves him feeling quite irritated.]

So what's the plot this week?

[Yagami Light. Son of Chief Soichiro Yagami - the one who figured out Mello's name. Somehow. With what had to be kira's help. First and foremost, why is this bastard here? Second L....he certainly thinks highly of himself to take such a title - despite his obvious incompetence. It had to be him. No one else in the NPA had the capability according to what information his men, now deceased thanks to you, had gathered.

Secondly, what did this Light know? Had he gotten ahold of his name? His face? Obviously there were the sketches from Wammys....

Needless to say Mello doesn't have the option of leaving this one untouched - as if he would anyway.]

Rather convenient, isn't it?

...Great. Now Light almost wishes he were still sleeping. Mello's voice is one that has been--for better or for worse--etched into Light's memory; he could pick it out from anywhere. The last one had mysteriously vanished, so why me god, is another one back to take the last one's place? He's been awake for five minutes now and already his good mood has been spoiled by the taste of something bitter in the back of his throat.

So just when was this one taken from? How much did this one know- well, no. That didn't matter as Near is here, and he knew the last Mello and Near were communicating. Or at least had very good reasons not to exclude that as a possibility. Light could therefore assume Mello regardless of time, would know what Near knows--which is information circa January 2010.... which led to his other headache. Sayu. (Come to think of it, had Sayu returned?) He'd already warned Sayu not to speak to anyone named Mello, and given her a physical description of the brat, but it only took a few words to plant ( ... )

[Mello snickers a little bit over the aluminum serenade of a chocolate bar being unwrapped.

He wouldn't have expected any outright recognition. This wasn't back in Los Angeles where they both knew of each other's existence in a give and take - well more take really, but whatever - type way. Here, however, at the manor, some seem to arrive with an advantage over others in how much they know. How much they remember. His arrival verses L's is evidence enough of this.

And thus, despite the simple fact that considering there had been multiple versions of himself to pass through here it was highly unlikely any version of Light didn't know something about him, it would be foolish for Light to rush forward with any information he might have concerning Mello and thus lose an opportunity to feel out what Mello knows or what his intentions were.

Well two could play that game three if you HAVE to count Near]

The apocolypse would be such an unfortunate thing to miss. [You should know, Kira.]

[Tch. So the brat wanted to play this tired game, did he? Feeling for information, neither one really admitting to anything, waiting for the other to make a mistake. Heh. Light's more than confident in his ability to keep up an appearance. Without the Death Note, no-one had any evidence to support their claims, and as he hadn't used the Note in the Manor, no-one should suspect he had it in his possession in the first place. Not that the damn thing was even functional. It's tempting, however, oh-so-tempting to write the lot of them into the Note anyway for the hell of it. Even if it did work, however, any satisfaction gained would be too temporary to be worth the repercussions.

So then really, what is the best approach here? He frowns slightly as he considers his options. An olive branch- or at least a fake one- would be one way of doing it but considering the personalities of the former Mello's, it didn't seem likely at all to end in success. Frustrating.]

Then I shall hope you live to experience it.

[[L's eyes shift to the side from the tedious thing he's holding, pinched between an index finger and his thumb with his wrist bent at an angle that shouldn't normally be that comfortable. Then again neither is the seated position that he's teetering in with his bare feet as the only thing clutching and keeping him stable on the chair's edge.

He sets down the small shell and picks up his device in the same manner as the shell.]]

[Light can't say that he's impressed by this line of inquiry, but is admittedly at least grateful the detective hadn't begun with a deluge of questions about his absence. Not that he doesn't expect one to come, but. He stretches his arms across his body, working out some of the stiffness in his shoulders.]

As refreshing as a months worth of sleep could be, I suppose. [Which, as it turns out, isn't nearly as refreshing as it should be. And because whoever asks questions first, gets them answered first.] When did Mello arrive?

[Text - Private/U.H.] Yep! thumbonmylip May 30 2011, 23:59:42 UTC
[[L ho-hum's in his mind as he looks down at the question. It seems really funny to hear Light asking instantly about Mello's arrival like L is going to give him times, dates, places and hobbies.

He tippytypes away, taking his time as usual.]]

Mello? Is that so? [[Huurh.]]

I've been a bit busy with the recent plot and lost my communicator until this week. All for the better, I got to take my first ever vacation. Which reminds me, Light-kun, I have something to give you.

[What the hell? If L seriously thinks the promise of a present is enough to distract Light from the fact that he had attempted to deflect the question, rather poorly for that matter, then he'd be thoroughly disappointed that no, it isn't the case at all. True it gave Light absolutely no benefit whatsoever to know when specifically Mello had arrived, but it provided L with no benefits to keep it secret either. Nor did it protect Mello at all for that matter.

The additional lies only serve to fan Light's growing irritation. L misplace his Blackberry and then conveniently find it again the day Light wakes up to taunt him with? Not likely. As for being busy with the recent plot- again, unlikely. As far as Light's been able to tell, no-one has posted anything to the network about a new plot- which usually meant, no-one had figured it out yet. The bastard could stand to choose his lies more wisely.]

That's very kind of you. It would also be kind of you to supply an answer to my question.

THERE WERE EXTREMELY DANGEROUS ZOMBIES TRYING TO KILL PEOPLE, AND THEN THERE WAS AN EXTREMELY BIG BEACH THAT MAGICALLY APPEARED TO THE EXTREME!!! THE ZOMBIES WERE HIBERNATING TO THE EXTREME THEN, BUT THEN THEY BROUGHT THESE EXTREMELY DANGEROUS MONSTERS WITH THEM WHEN THEY UNHIBERNATED LATER. BUT THEY'VE ALL MIGRATED AWAY SO YOU'RE EXTREMELY SAFE NOW!!!!

[Hoove-senpai? For that matter, Senpai? Since when had they escalated to the level of ill-fitting sobriquets and honorifics? No, Light doesn't want to know. Nor does he want to know about the zombies- did this kid have a fixation with zombies? Why was he still talking about them almost a month later? In addition, it's doubtful that they're ever safe in the Manor, which is why Light rubs his temple once before replying.]

As loud as ever, I see, Sasagawa-san. [Emphasis on the polite, distant honorific there.] I'm glad to hear that the...[This pains him to say it.] zombies are gone.
