Which is why he's wandering around the first floor of the manor, holding up a flame in the palm of his hand to light the way. He walks into the parlor and pauses to look

[Look at that, Zuko. You're not the only one who can conjure up some form of light in his hands. 17 doesn't need to - android! - but it does add a nice touch to the place by adding some light.

It doesn't take long until 17 comes across Zuko, seeing that there was another person with light and being drawn to them. On any day he wouldn't care that there's someone else roaming around considering that there always is, but after hearing what Zuko had to say:] You're right about that. Light doesn't do anything to change that, sadly.

[Zuko glances at the newcomer, turning to face him.] How can you all live in a place like this? [Glances about the room as he says that, then down at the floorboards beneath his feet, which groan ominously as he shifts his weight from one foot to the other.]

People are pretty good at adapting to different kinds of environments, are they not? It's not the worst this place has been through, anyway. [Sometimes there's dinosaurs. A blackout is definitely better than Jurassic Park.] The longer you stick around, the more you'll get it.

[True enough. This is definitely an improvement over the raft. He still wouldn't wanna live here though.] Everyone makes it sounds like it's impossible to leave. Is that true? No one's ever managed to get out? [He'd compare it to the Boiling Rock Maximum Security Prison, but the Boiling Rock didn't have an invisible wall with no weak points.]

[Zuko turns in surprise, blinking at the strange, harsh light-- and stares. What is it with people here having strange hair colours?] Oh... No, I'm just... looking around. [He stares at the strange device she's holding; it definitely doesn't flicker like a flame, so he doesn't know what makes it light.] What is that?

'I'll get right on that!' = days later DX I'm sorry!

[She glances at the object in her hand - so, another one from a world without electricity..]

It's a flashlight - it uses electricity to make light

[Electricity? It sounds familiar somehow, but not something he's really accustomed to.] Right. Sounds... useful, I guess. [He's more than happy with his fire, thanks.]

[[L's sitting comfortably on a chair, using his PCD in order to look through a few lists, it seems that more than one someone has gone home from his home world and he's a little perturbed by it, checking up on the others he knows are still here. More just to take stock.

He turns his eyes only, then turns them back to his PCD.]]

[[He's here for the quiet since he figures most people leave this portion alone, except for new arrivals of course- or new ish arrivals.]]

[Zuko stops, not having immediately noticed the person who was already in there. He takes a breath, and his flame rises higher, illuminating the man in the chair. He frowns.]

I suppose. I'm just surprised this place is still standing. There seems to be a lot of damage in certain rooms.

[His eyes catch on the glowing screen of the device, and he looks at it curiously.] Why are you sitting here in the dark? Everyone else at least carries one of those... flash-light things with them.

[[L hadn't made notice right away that the flame was directly in his hand, that's interesting and also filed away for later. After meeting Shinigami here and at home, he's only filing away things like this into his memory- they're not too shocking, at least some of them. He's curious of course but that can wait a moment.]]

If we all died, she wouldn't have her story- now would she? Surely, we'll be fine.

[[He presses a few buttons when the PCD is glanced at and pulls it into his chest, his head turning at that point to see this person full on and stare openly.]]

What's the difference? I'm not looking for anything as much as peace of mind; it's easier to do that in the dark when no one knows to come bother you. The Blackberry light's illuminates my way enough.

[Zuko shakes his head.] If you say so. I've already met one psycho since arriving here, though, I'd rather not give any others the chance to sneak up on me.
