001 Beyond Birthday [Audio]

Mar 13, 2011 20:16

[Had Beyond Birthday cared to put in the effort, he could probably name the exact genus and species of the prehistoric flora that surrounded him. He did not care. The only thing that matters at the moment is that this place is not Room four-oh-four. His thoughts are scattered in chaotic disarray, an unpredictable, teeming mass of anger, annoyance, ( Read more... )

[Tom was busy patching up Claudia when he saw this message and his eyes widened. He remembered the name and the clear meaning that the last time he encountered any of the Wammy Boys were never good encounters.]

Just who in the hell do you think you are?! People are dying and you're complaining about sitting on a Trike?

Thanks. I appreciate it.

[Even though the wounds were pretty bad, Tom had to try.]

What were those? They looked like they were the size of house cats but they came in numbers.

No idea, and I have no intention to find out the hard way, but it's obvious that the Author's a fan of popular science fiction thriller films.

By the way, Tom, do you regularly keep a gun on you?

Yeah.

[Tom looks up at Misora for a moment with a brief look of confusion.]

Why do you ask?

Good, keep doing it.

Now that B's back and is aware that you might have seen someone like him before, he'll probably come track you down. You'll want to stay armed just to be on the safe side.

[There is a nod from the young cop and a sigh.]

Somehow I figured you were going to give me some advice along those lines.

[He checks his service revolver just in case.]

Would I need anything more powerful than a .38 Taurus?

As long as he doesn't get his hands on anything better, I think you'll be fine. I guess it has more to do with staying alert in the end. He's not an expert fighter or anything, but he's a planner and is sneaky.

[Tom seems relatively calm despite that he feels now like he's being hunted and nods.]

Okay. That's more than what I had to go by before. So if he feels I'm less useful, I'll be killed.

[He runs his fingers through his head.]

No pressure.

....

[B honestly couldn't give a damn if the girl died. In fact, he can already see that she won't. The numbers are absolute. His eyes have... with a few annoying exceptions, never failed him. He could probably take an infected rag and rub it into her wounds and she would still cling to life like a pathetic maggot. Not that he would tell Tom any of this.]

Where are you?

Somewhere in the hotel. If you're at the dock, it's not a good idea for you to risk your life to get here.

[To be honest, with Misora's recent message to him, he's trying to keep it civil without creating a bigger risk to himself or to any party involved.]

Somewhere in the hotel? [B wants answers. If he had been here previously, then picking Hanson's brain would be invaluable. Necessary, even. He doesn't care what the cost is.]

Try to be more specific, Mr.....?

It's Tom.

[He has so many last names through his covers, he decides to keep it simple.]

Between the dining hall and the main hall way leading to the lobby.

[Tom barely passes the first of B's tests. Had Tom chosen to lie... Ha! B would have found him all the more intriguing. The last person B had found intriguing was Backyard Bottomslash. She ended up quite dead.]

I'll be there shortly. Try not to let...[The corners of his lips turn upwards slightly.] Miss Claudia hemorrhage to death.

I can't guarantee that.

[That grin really bothers him now. Tom was many things but a liar wasn't one of them.]

[B disconnects the feed, frowning as he carefully, inch-by-inch, crawls down from his perch on the mighty beast's back. He'd baited Hanson with the girl's name, to fish for a reaction. Nothing. Why? It supported the idea that a clone of himself had indeed been here, which lead to one of two possibilities. A) His other had made it public knowledge that he and Claudia were on speaking terms, or B) His other had revealed the truth about B's eyes. He couldn't care less about Claudia which meant....Impossible! The spidery crawling comes to an end as he rolls unharmed onto the ground. Tom Hanson suddenly became much more important to keep close, and if not that, silence forever. He begins his short trek towards the hotel.]
