Diamond 5: Emma Frost [Video]

[Emma's looking out the window of some building onto the grand view of the canals and narrow passages.]

Venice.  How utterly romantic.

Do excursions like this happen often?  It's nice to get away from that dusty old house, but I don't like the idea of being yanked around through time and space at someone else's whims.

You're not the only one. This is now twice I came to someplace new. So why Venice? Why not somewhere less romantic like....Iceland or Alaska...wait, that could be viewed as romantic too in it's own way. This is getting too weird.

[Tom's adaptability is about to be put to the test again.]

Have you looked at the calender today? Valentine's Day. An appropriate place for it, Italy.

I can only assume that this field trip won't last long. But for now...it's a nice change of pace.

Great.

[Tom instantly shuts up. The one day he dreads every year and now he's having trouble being cordial.]

Something wrong, dear?

[She can sense his hesitation and shyness.]

This is the third one I've been through. Given the way the city isn't "right", I wonder if it's actually being "yanked around through time and space" or merely changing the scenery massively on whatever space we're normally in - I don't think anyone's ever had a good idea on the nature of the Manor itself.

Brilliant. Just to complicate things more, I suppose. Well, either way, we're in what seems to be Venice, how we got here notwithstanding...

Basically.

At least, if I have a sense of the Author yet, it should be peaceful - I expect her to run with the date, which should push her away from doing anything dangerous this week. [Yes, he does, indeed have a mental profile of the Author, put together from reading between the lines on plots and bits of intervention.]

Peaceful. Well, that will be a nice break.

Tell me, then, you must have a fair idea of what the Author's like. All I've gotten so far is that she's some adolescent teen with a poor imagination and weaker writing abilities. [And she's not ruling out the possibility of the Author being an Omega-level mutant.]
