[James comes running back when he heard the shout he skids to a halt and stares around wide eyed. When he finds her collapsed he drops down next to her, checking her pulse.]

Miria! Can you hear me?!

Where's Sweeney?

[James' Daemon, Géraldine, noses him]

What? The rat thing...

[James scans the forest floor.]

He's gone. Miria please wake up.

Do you remember what I told you? About Daemons?

[James looks from the deer to Miria's fallen form in disbelief.]

If Sweeney's gone then Miria's soul is...gone?

[Géraldine nods solemnly]

[James bites his lip and gives Miria a final halfhearted shake]
