[The sounds of rain bettering the street in its natural rhythm forces a sense of undeniable urgency to seek shelter. In Sheldon's case, he wasn't one of them ( Read more... )

Well I for one am not complaining; this is better than us being turned into vampires or being chased by our childhood fears.

I'm glad nothing's gone wrong yet.

[In the background, there's a mime and a few street performers doing something and Sheldon's really not paying that much attention to it just they aren't paying any attention to him.]

I'm not denying your point. It's clean. In fact it's too clean. Everything in this place is so clean that just dropping litter around here one second, and the moment you turn around it's gone.

[Not to mention that his tone of voice is so calm at this moment that even if he was planning on doing something, he's going to do it and not say a word just to see if it would come up noticed....which he doubts.]

[Well you shouldn't be dropping litter anyways, Mr Sands..=]

She shrugs a little, all that can be heard in the background is the rain, her backdrop a grey stone wall]

I try to make the best of the plots; and since the Author seems to be treating us this week, I'm going to try and relax a little

Maybe you should too..?

[He saw that disappointed look.]

It was to test what I'm up against. And relax?

[He pauses for a moment and gives it a little thought.]

I'll think about it.

What's great about Paris is the fashion and designer shops usually.

Now that's something worth while should any of the shop keepers actually acknowledge any of us. Still, shops are good places to be if you like that sort of thing. It's common but well worth the attention.

It's about the only fun thing here. Well expect seeing just how much one of these guys can take of course.

You've been checking that out too, I take it. I'm not the only one that sees these faceless creatures that resemble humans as somewhat of a slight. You know, I'll take you up on the shopping trip.

[His tone isn't angry. He's calm. Very calm.]

On the contrary. I'm what is called slightly disappointed.

Disappointed? How come?

It's hard to explain. After dealing with monsters, ourselves turning into vampires, facing our nightmares and fears, coming to a place like this seems a little....too relaxed.

Ordinarily, there's a great deal of history here...

But then usually it's also much more - lively.

I suppose it's not so bad to not be busy with casework while I'm here, but even if I don't have work right now, it's not exactly much of a chance to enjoy the city.

I'm not denying there isn't. I'm going to take a friend's advice and chill out myself. Clear my head a bit from all of this nonsense from the past several weeks. Maybe I'll contemplate the universe.

I should try to do something like that. It's a bit hard - almost takes trying to shut off a great deal of instincts and habits. I'm used to paying close attention to my surroundings, and there should be people I know here; it's hard not to think of what it was like when I was here last and get thrown off. As busy as this "Paris" is, it's - so very empty, and cities aren't supposed to be like this.

Although I suppose it could be worse. As zombie-like as they are, they aren't trying to eat anyone.

[That gets a laugh out of the agent.]

It's like everyone's hopped up on Prozac. If they start turning on us and want to eat our brains, we're at a serious disadvantage.

Paris is just something that's really well liked I guess. [Sheldon gets a response he probably didn't expect- a ten year old pretty much verbally shrugging as a reply.] It has a history behind it and been- I don't know romanticized since- forever.

The Author probably read some brochures about it, so she probably decided to just drop us here and see what happened.

Sounds about right and a very plausible explanation. The best I heard yet. So with this point of view, what do you think the Author expects to gain from us being here?

Wish fulfillment? She could be trying to live through us because she's bored. Best I could think of.

That really puts into prospective just how useful we are to this Author's purpose. Makes one feel a little small in the grand schema.
