I completely forgot to say... Apparently Natalie & I weren't trying to cram enough into my two weeks in the US of A. Because now we have tickets to San Francisco Comic Con? Why? Because Jason MomoaSo now it's looking like

Yeaaaaah Gatecon in Vancouver is basically the main reason for my trip over, combining it with spending two weeks with my Natalie, who lives just outside of San Francisco.
And then she messaged me yesterday to tell me she'd accidentally bought us tickets for SFCC because of Momoa so it was like.. ok then, two conventions in 5 days. Awesome. My poor legs! LOL
Considering the sheer distance, and number of major cities with severe traffic you are going to have to drive through, and how long it can take to cross the border...you should leave Tuesday for Vancouver, rather than chilling all day. It once took me five hours to drive from the Seattle airport to my home in Ferndale, WA which is only a 90 mile drive. The border cross alone can take a few hours, depending on what time of day you are going through. MOST of the time, it's less than an hour, but it'll definitely slow you down.
Honestly, it would probably be cheaper and less of a hassle in the long run to fly from San Fran to Vancouver. Hell, fly San Fran to Bellingham on Allegiant for SUPER cheap, then drive north from there and save yourselves an entire day. The drive you are talking about doing in 16 hours just isn't feasible in that length of time. It doesn't look it on the map, but south of Portland to north of Seattle is basically solid metro area, which means MAJOR traffic headaches... You could also take the train (Amtrak) up. :-) (I live in Ferndale, right off I-5, about 2 hours north of Seattle--without traffic. You'll go right past me no matter which way you take, so wave on your way through. :-) )
The friend I'm going with has done the drive a couple of times, and she did it in 14hrs. I believe current plan is leaving something like 11pm Tuesday night but we'll take it as we go.
It is going to be awesome - I mean, if I was to try and roadtrip that long I'd end up in like Poland or Africa or something. The longest I've done has been 8 hours and that got me to Germany. There are no words that express my sheer excitement!
