Excellent story. It's nice to see them just hang out and be friends together. It fits in well with the overall story too as something I believe they would both do.

I know show only has 42 minutes a week but some moments like this would be nice. Thanks for sharing.

THIS IS SO SPOT-ON. She can do it with him, because he's not doing her a favor. She won't owe him anything. That's how they roll. And this is the best way to help Elena. This girl is so wrecked by people doing things for her, saving her, that she wouldn't accept Damon's offer if he let her feel he's just doing it for her. But if it's for both of them, she can accept it and enjoy it.

Imagining them doing Stefan's car made my evening yesterday :D. Thank you so much!

I couldn't work a hug in here, so I did that in the next part. And I don't mean just a *hug with no shirt* -- there's an actual real hug in it. After the hug with no shirt...

I loved the idea of Elena getting more on board with the *fun* aspect once it wasn't all about her. It seemed appropriate.

I'm glad this one made you happy, as I don't expect the other one to. (Or the inevitable sequel I'll have to write to that.)

I love the passion and the angst and all that but sometimes I just miss the uncomplicated friendship from S1 and some of early S3. God I hope they re-discover their friendship in S4. (Fingers crossed) My heart can't take the angst anymore for at least a while

Yes, their basis of friendship is what makes all the rest of it so painful...you just want them to work it out and be together! I feel your pain!

Nice sweet bit between them, and very true to the fact that they ARE friends. Despite the insane chemistry and sexual/romantic/whatever tension between them, they genuinely are friends and we do see that now and then. This was a lovely reflection of that.

And I LOVE the callback to "Bloodlines." Lordy, I love me that line so. :)

You don't even know how hard it was to write this without the UST! I chose Elena's POV because I thought it would be easier to let her not address moments where there actually might have been UST (denial is strong at this point). But I really loved how I could go to the straight-up friendshippy part of their relationship from "Bloodlines" and insert it and have it work so well. I just loved how she could say those words to him and mean them and have it mean something even greater between them, because of everything they've been through now. ♥!
