I just finished reading the final chapter earlier today, and it. was. epic.
Seriously, you all owe it to yourselves to read it, and if you can, leave a review for the talented girl behind the story. Allison would most definitely appreciate it, and I've talked to her a few times. She's a sweet girl, and I see great potential in her to become one of the "Elite" fic writers.
That said, Candy and I BOTH command you...Go read!
There isn't a TON of D/E fic out there, but the stuff that's good? It's SO GOOD. It makes it rewarding since it's few and far between. Glad I could help point you in the right direction!
You're right, the stuff that's good is fantastic, but on the other hand, most of what I've encountered is crap. I've never seen a fandom wholly unable to figure out the proper use of quotation marks before.
That's kind of why I started a rec lj, to keep track of the good stuff. I'll be going back over older stuff, so don't be surprised to see a lot of your stuff recced LOL :) I want to get back into writing so I'm immersing myself in every good fic I can!
The best thing that can ever happen is when the writing is so good the punctuation ceases to matter. It only happens once in a blue moon, but it's magical when it does :D
At this juncture all I've got is older stuff--but there is a lot of it. I wrote more about Damon and Elena in about an 8-month period than is comprehensible to me most of the time. They are simply THE BEST CHARACTERS EVAH! So be careful. They will eat your brain if you let them in...

IKR!!! I was so giddy when I saw him. And actually his storyline was supposed to be bigger: Matt's mom was going to have a supernatural ability that they ended up having to shelve because of time constraints. So sad!
So, I'm sure you weren't shocked that Katherine wasn't in the tomb, but how sorry for Damon were you???? So sad, huh!?
1x15 is one of my favorite D/E eps, and was the first thing that ever inspired me to fic!
You know, I haven't read many fics where Damon is human, but I wasn't really on the look-out for them either. I wrote one where he gets turned human--it was one of my early fics, and I remember being so surprised when that's where it went. Since then I've written a few others where he's not turned human, but where other interesting events happen to him to make him not just a vampire. *iz mysterious* You need to see S2 for any of that to make sense!
I'm sure there are a lot of AU fics over at the Pit, but if they involve Damon in high school or garbage like that, I would not even glance at them. So, you may be on your own for stuff like that.
Thank you for this rec!!! :D I was psyched about TVD tonight, read it and got even MORE psyched, and as a bonus, it totally unblocked me for another fic I was writing!!! :p This story had magical powers...the dialogue was wonderful and the smut didn't feel at all gratuitous. Amazing!!! :D
Where do you post your fic? I just realized I wanted to ask you that ages ago when we got into that sex semantics discussion. I'm sure you've written a bunch for DA, but do you write TVD fic too?
Aww, no I've never tried writing TVD fic...Damon's voice is really difficult to master, IMO! I just write DA fic and post it at The Pit. Some on LJ, but only the stuff I think isn't ready for primetime. ;p
My sister writes TVD fic though -- even though she hasn't updated in AGES! I think her writing it first kinda scared me off, LOL...we tend not to cross fandoms much... :/
I never wrote much Sawyer fic from LOST for that same reason--I was afraid of his voice not coming out correctly. With Damon, I have not had that problem [or at least my delusion that I can write him is so complete I don't know I'm not good at it], so I understand.
I wonder if your sister wrote one of the WIPs I follow that hasn't been updated in a million years! Ha!
