More for the Daddy drabbles, only I seem incapable of truly writing a drabble where these boys and their dad are concerned. Warning, baby!Linc ahead....
I knew I shouldn't have read this now. Now I'm all tearyed eyed. *sniffles* I love it. Her justification for her 'lie' is heartbreaking and for all she knew so very true. And Linc knowing the truth but going along with it anyway for his mom is sweet yet sad. It makes sense that lying to Michael about the money was 'easy.' I'm not saying he wouldn't have done it anyway if they hadn't agreed to lie to Michael, but it does make me wonder at least. Lying to protect the one(s) you love is a Burrows/Scofield thing.
That's very true, about all of their penchants for lying. I didn't think of it that way. Michael and Lincoln are both good at it, at least with each other since that is what their whole lives are based on. Hmmm...food for thought.
Nicely done! I've thought about this before--how Aldo must have been a good father before he left and how Lincoln reconcilied that with his mother's accounts. I love how little Linc is already so protective of his baby brother.
“I’ll say the same thing. He’ll have us, and that’s all he’ll need.”
First of all this is gorgeous even if it is painfully heartbreaking to read
Second...
her husband, who had up and left in the middle of the night for no apparent reason, was not mean. He’d never hit them, or even raised his voice in anger. He was quiet, intense, and had convinced her he deeply loved her, but then in a sudden personality transformation he had become secretive, and within a month of that strange behavior a terrible goodbye
Ahhh HAH! I always thought Mahone was meant to mirror Aldo more than Michael so yeah.... thanks for that one :o)
Now that's a great insight! Yes, Alex is much more Aldo (similar names too, huh!?) than he is Michael. And Alex killed Aldo. So many parallels. You can just turn anything into a Mahone-related thing, can't you :D
“Don’t worry, Mommy,” Lincoln’s sure voice came from right beside her, and she looked down in surprise. She hadn’t heard him get up from the table and come stand next to her at the stove. “I’ll say the same thing. He’ll have us, and that’s all he’ll need.”
Kids have a way of knowing just what to say to the ones they love and care about.
I really liked the idea of Lincoln being so perceptive, and making a conscious decision to back his mother up. And of course, some way giving Christina a little comfort for her heartache.
*sigh* That was just... *sighs again* sad and touching. My absolute favorite part was this: His small hands wrapped around a cup filled with juice and he drew it to his little cherub face. He took a drink and then looked at her seriously. “Yeah, you should tell him that. He won’t know it’s not the truth.”, because I think you captured the moment perfectly. That's what children often do, they'll act like a regular child and all of a sudden, almost casually, they'll say something very adult-like, you know? And you'd just be left wondering where that insight came from. And the leg-grabbing hug just did it for me *sniff*
One question, do we know her name is Christina? I just can't remember if it was said on the show and when.
And on a side-note, isn't the image of Linc as a child just so terribly adorable? :D
Michael named the yacht after their mother, Christina Rose. So, yes that is her name, and they told us this season, towards the end, like the 2nd or 3rd to the end of the season, I think.
Yes, sweet baby!Linc is just too much for my heart to take. :D
Glad you liked it, and I thought showing him going through the process of thinking about it was important. He made a choice that day, just like he later makes a choice to do something specific for Michael, so I thought that was in character and important.
