This chapter is what I like to refer to as 'heartbreakingly beautiful'. The quotes your picking out from the show and inserting into this story in italics are perfect! It's obvious how much time and effort and heart you put into this story because it just pours off the page when I read it. When I wrote this, I remember thinking it might be the most in Damon's head I'd ever been--and it was heartbreaking. But then, well, more stuff happened and I realized I'd only gotten to the tip of the iceberg.

Also, Elena's hugging instructions are needed direly. That boy just does not know how to return a hug! I am really looking forward to reading the rest of this.

The Caroline/Damon/Stefan stuff is some of my favorite of the whole story--I really could have written a whole Big_Bang about all my second tier plots.
Yes, I want Elena to teach Damon how to give a hug.
Poor Damon, the agony of being so close to Elena and a very normal (and good sounding) life with and he still doesn't get to be happy. The with the discussion about visiting her at school and all that was left unsaid after the kiss was heartbreaking. Great job.
Damon and his nobility are very sad--but also very like him, to sacrifice his own feelings for what he thinks Elena feels. But yeah, I wanted you to feel sad for him, so I'm glad that's the reaction you had!

The problem is, he can't process any of it. It's all stuff he categorizes under: Not Possible.
lol. Great way to open this second chapter.
It's not until he gets in the shower a few minutes later that he realizes she's being strong for him. (As if he needed another reason to love her.)
It touches my heart that Elena's actions belie her feelings for him before they are said out loud. This was a lovely reveal with just an element of surprise in it (that is to say that I didn't see that coming).
He falls asleep before she comes back.
Awww. I just adore the Elena-taking-care-of-Damon dynamic in this short scene, because we very rarely get to see that (as it's usually Damon protecting Elena). It felt so very Damon-like to be miserable and cranky with the whole not-healing-immediately situation.
Elena's reaction to breaking up with Stefan was spot on and having Damon go from being worried about her to his usual snarky, brush-things-aside self was perfect for this scene.

I loved that the blood of the Doppelganger had different properties than your average sorority girl. Damon being pissed about feeling hangovers was delightful, followed quickly by him being sweet enough to offer sanctuary to Caroline & Tyler. It was all entertaining.
He wants to let go of all the air trapped in his lungs because he was holding his breath for some odd reason, but instead he just swallows and tries to act like he's not turned on from, you know, her kissing his hand.
Can you say, "Undeniable Sexual Tension"??? OMG, Damon has got it so badly for her, it's not even funny, except it really is. LOL.
They spend an inordinate amount of time together, which, in turn, causes Damon to spend his alone time jacking off like a teenager because something weird has happened to him where if he can't have Elena he doesn't want anyone.
Something weird, indeed. I wonder if it's coincidental that this started developing around the time that you tasted Elena's blood? Just a thought, mind you.

Damon losing his ability to drink with no consequences is my second favorite "result" from his transition. And it makes him so pissy, which is funny.
And I loved a simple thing like Elena holding and kissing his hand being so powerful to Damon--I like the contrast too of them hanging out like friends and it driving him crazy.
Something weird, indeed. I wonder if it's coincidental that this started developing around the time that you tasted Elena's blood? Just a thought, mind you.Hmmm, honestly, I had not considered that! But now that you mention it, it's very likely the cause as well. Plus, Damon's sort of at a place where he likes to attribute everything to an outside source rather than take the credit for the changes that are happening to him, so he'd agree with you for sure

I liked the development of the WolfVamp, only because it made the whole point of the story possible! :D
