30 Day Vampire Diaries Meme - Day 16
linsell_farm chose Bonnie trying to kill Damon in 2x02 which is right up there towards the top for me. And then arabian chose Elena blowing Damon off after he reveals that Stefan FORCED him to turn in 1x20, which in all honesty, I'd never considered. I think I've always been so flabbergasted by the reveal, that what happened after the reveal lacked focus for me. But she brought it into sharp, crystal clarity and made me realize how Damon has been so wronged, so many times, by so many people, even Elena. So naturally, I should be able to find something that makes me angrier than either of these two scenes. And I did, but wonderingly, it ended up not being about Damon, somehow. (I know, I'm shocked too!)
This is a scene from 2x04 "Memory Lane" and I call it:
Stefan NOT BAMFing
(which perhaps makes little sense, but that's how it makes me feel)
You can watch it HERE. The part I'm talking about starts at about 1:50. Katherine is taunting him about how she'll kill everyone Elena loves and then Elena herself and Stefan lunges at her, but he does not have the cajones to actually kill her.
Now, don't get me wrong, of course I don't want Katherine dead. I love to hate that psychotic bitch. But I need more from Stefan than he just didn't have a pair that day to do her in. Ever since that moment, I've been waiting to see more conflict from him, anything that would make me believe tender feelings for Katherine kept him from doing what should have been done, but there's been nothing. (I'll get to the failure in the Tomb in 2x11 tomorrow.) Stefan has killed other vampires who were threats to those he loves with less provocation than what Katherine did to him and his brother. If anyone deserves a stake in her chest, it's Katerina Petrova, and it still pisses me off when I think of the chance Stefan had here that he did not take for any clear reason, in my opinion. I know he tells Damon in "Masquerade" that he "hesitated" and he hopes that Damon wouldn't do the same, but my anger comes from the fact that there seems to be no good reason for his hesitation. At least if Damon hesitated, I could understand why.
