"We've been having lots of fun lately...even if it's scary sometimes, like when we're fighting Shadows, I feel like it's okay because we're together." Yosuke's voice was deepening with each word until it was normal again. He didn't seem to be aware of the change. "You are a really great guy, Souji, and I feel like you've helped me become a better person. You're a true leader, and someone I can always count on...you're really special to me."

Yosuke's face a was a little red at this point. Souji became painfully aware of how close they were standing and said breathlessly, "You're blushing, Yosuke."

"I'm-I'm Chie, remember?" he snapped, turning even redder.

"You sure don't sound like it," Souji murmured.

"Well, I'm just trying to - I don't know, but I'm Chie! S-so respond like I'm her!" Yosuke replied. For some reason, Yosuke felt a lump in his throat and a flutter in his stomach.

Souji nodded. He'd never been a man of many words, so he decided that the best thing to do would be to give him - er, her - a hug ( ... )
