(First post here. I think I'm doing it right, but please lemme know if there's a problem.)

Dear Mr. Taxi Dispatcher (or whatever the appropriate term is, if there is one?):

I'm sorry I was having trouble hearing you. I was at school when I called you, and I needed a ride home. It was very busy and loud, as it usually is; in fact, the only places that ( Read more... )

commenters morally obligated to disagree, seriously call the cops now, no one cares it's your first time, possible bad service?

Bad service on both parts and honestly you could have called the cops on that last one. I've seen cases that went to court over dogs biting trespassers, too, so it's not exactly something I would take lightly either.

(What is it with contractors, fenced yards, and dogs? A work crew kept entering my yard without permission and leaving the side gate open. Since I can't see that gate from the door where I let my dog out to do his business, he escaped three times before I chained and locked that side gate. Their response was to rip out a giant section of the back fence to move in earth-moving equipment, then leave the giant hole in the fence AND the giant pit of raw sewage in my yard. Lovely people, those.)

Yeah. He's lucky she was inside with me when he pulled this stunt. Otherwise there's no way I would have gotten there before she decided to take a chunk out of him. I'm still utterly baffled by him, though; he literally stood there, purposefully exciting her while she barked and growled at him. (His words: "Oh, you just wanna play, don't you? Don't you??" And I'm just standing there slack-jawed, because seriously. All the stupid points are awarded to this man.)

O_o Wow. The nerve of some people absolutely baffles me, sometimes. That's just ridiculous. I hope you complained

I seriously hope that contractor paid for the repairs to your fence! If not, I'd be raising a HUGE fuss. That's so unacceptable!

As it was, it was a rental, so it wasn't "our" fence but the landlord's -- it was still incredibly asinine. I had to threaten to call the health department before the landlords got after the work crew to actually finish their work, cover the cesspit, and fix the hole in the fence. This was done - almost 3 months after they started. My ex and I moved heaven and earth to move out of there a couple months afterward.

Woooooooooooow that's crazy. How long ago did the contractor thing happen? I'd be getting a hold of that guy's boss and suggesting that if he doesn't want to bail his people out of jail, he remind them about how trespassing laws work; and if he doesn't want to pay worker's comp, he really should remind his workers that dogs aren't always friendly. Hell, my 6 year old knows THAT!

If he IS the boss, God help him; irrevocably stupid people generally don't stay in business very long.

ETA: Also, if you're on good terms with the neighbors, let them know about this. I'd want to hear about it if someone working on my house was trying to get themselves hospitalized or jailed.

It happened this morning. I was actually in the middle of breakfast when it happened. Anyway, we've already gone over and told them to stay out of our backyard -- if they really need something (like permission to use an electrical outlet, which is why the guy cut through our yard to begin with; more mind-boggling here. He realizes he needs permission to use our power... but not to cut through our property?), they're welcome to ask... so long as they come to the front door like civilized people ( ... )

I was looking for a good "lol no" reaction gif, but all I could find was this super indignant owl.

ETA: Which... isn't animating. Please hold while I find a website that will allow it to animate!

Also, I was saying "lol no" as my response to the contractor. Not to anything you said.

Yay owl!

Are you friendly with your neighbor? If you're not, that could have caused so much more neighborhood drama as well as being a stupid move on his part, argh. Think before you act, dude.

I'd mention what their contractor did to them in a "FYI, the guy you hired is a numbskull." sort of way. Also get his name so you know not to hire him for your own business if you ever are in the market, eh?

Rude dispatchers are the worst. I'd be all "LOL WUT" if someone muttered that sort of crap under their breath at me but my first reaction to someone over reacting like calling me a fucking bitch for asking them to repeat themselves is to laugh at them.

*edit* I see up stream because I am an ass who does not read comments all the time before commenting myself, that there isn't a neighbor but probably a relator that contracts the contractor dude. Hopefully he's learned his lesson by your reaction to him though.

That contractor.... What in the F-ing F did he think he was doing? What a dumbass! I just....GAH. And if your dog had hurt him (and I wouldn't have blamed the dog), he probably would have tried to press charges or something, and you and your dog could have been in jeopardy. Such inconsiderate stupidity! Not quite service, since you weren't hiring him, but definitely BAD! I wouldn't want a contractor working on my place who acted like that. Let your neighbor know, if you have a decent relationship with them.

And the taxi dispatcher... I've had a couple of them who were brusque, but never blatantly rude. To say something like that is outright unacceptable. o_O
