DMV suck:

Really, DMV.

I knew this was bad when I heard two people yelling at the workers. Yelling.

I just ignored it, played on my smartphone, and waited my turn almost all freaking day longThe computer breaks just as I'm at the front of the line, after many of us have been waiting four hours ( Read more... )

government agency, no service

Texas is as bad... Move here, you're required to have Texas ID for everything. You go GET the id, they take away your photo id and give you a paper one which NO ONE will accept as id. (found THAT out after waiting standing in line in pain for 5 hours)

Meanwhile, as much as Florida sucked, you could get your drivers licence the first visit.

*headdesk*

That is worse. You win. That is much worse.

This is not reality. This is the movie, Brazil. No, I know what it is. We are all going to wake up as giant insects one day. I'm sure of it.

I honestly wasn't competing. :) It just was hugely frustrating then, waited all that time WITH a cranky 15 year old who was certain I was doing things JUST to ruin his life (divorcing his dad, moving in with someone else who was being very tolerant of his BS and only asking that he not disrespect me, then when his dad (whom he lives with) moved from Florida, too, OMG the world was ending.

He's 17 now. And has apologized for being an ass that summer, lol. ;)

Gah, you talk about adding insult to injury. I'm glad things are better now.

Their appointment system wasn't working.

I'm serious.

I can't make this up.

Heh. I've never seen an available appointment for less than a month out anyway. At least now it looks like they allow you to make appointments for more than just behind-the-wheel and renewals.

Wow. Nice. That almost never happens where I am.

And it's been worse since the economy's tanked - yeah, they do lay off state workers and they have reduced the hours/days open on nearly everything. So any one worker is probably frazzled, themselves.

Mind if I post my rant about what happened in the financial aid office at my school, just this week?

Yeah, since the layoffs it sucks -- no late hours, several local offices closed, and NO SATURDAY HOURS.

Fuckers.

oh god. That is why I'm one of those suckers who goes extra early and just waits in the parking lot until they're all done. Sure, I have to wait behind the people that had the same idea as me, but it's nowhere near a four hour wait. D:

I'll be keeping my fingers crossed that you get everything squared away.

If you hadn't said California I like the first poster would have thought you were in Texas. I had a day off and got to the DMV in K about an hour after it opened. You had to get a ticket to talk to a clerk to get ticket to wait till you or someone else died and then get to do what you came for.

And yes, they give you a paper driver's license when you take your test. However, they left me with my TN one so I used that till the other one came in the mail- six weeks later.

The one thing they do well is you can renew online and register your car online.

It gives me some sort of relief knowing California's not alone, but I'm sorry anyone else has to deal with this suck.
