Possible Bad Service?

So my sister, mom and I went out shopping one day and on the way home I wanted to stop for Subway. I go inside and pay for myself, it's all good but now they're hungry and go to this new little Italian cafe/pizza carry-out place. Once inside, they both decide on their own version of Italian subs. They never bothered to ask my mom or sister if it ( Read more... )

*restaurant, not as as if you bought nickelback, om nom nom, maybe there's chicken pox juice on it, possible bad service?, hot fresh wank in 30 min or less, it's only bad service if you die, *pizzeria, deli/sandwich shop, ^annoyance, tagger tags with love

I've actually had this problem but with Subway. I got a baguette from an independent store then the people I was with decided down the street they wanted subway so we went in and sat down etc and then a subway employee came over and told me (he didn't ask) to leave.

I guess, even though they didn't ask, it's good you got to keep your sandwich and got to eat in the establishment with your family. So annoying service but not as bad as Subway's sandwich insecurity :)

Borderline IMO. On the one hand they didn't automatically kick you out, which a number of places would do with varying degrees of rudeness. On the other hand they really shouldn't be grabbing and handling your food without asking permission first.

Definitely annoying. He should have at least explained what he was doing.

I'm not too sure about this either, I do agree.

On the one hand, as waitresses, we were taught we never touch customers' food without their permission or unless it's us needing to change something (and it's usually our food and them handing it to us). There's a big thing about invasion of personal space.

On the other hand, like someone else mentioned, they would have either told you to leave or eat it outside/after you've left the establishment. it doesn't matter that there's no one there. Beside common etiquette, if something happened to you while you are there (such as an allergic reaction) eating off a food within their establishment, people (not you) can turn around and blame them.

And there's also the factor of someone seeing what the OP is eating, and asking the counter for "what that person is having". Then the employee having to explain that the sandwich is from somewhere else, potentially losing a customer.

At the least, it's rude of *you* to take in food from another business. What he did, however abruptly, was accommodate you in allowing you to eat your sub there. And given that you hadn't purchased anything there, he didn't owe you any service at all.

This. I assumed it was common knowledge not to eat food from one restaurant inside another restaurant.
