My fiance and I moved into a home we found for rent through a rental company. The house was perfect for my 3 year old, myself and my fiance and an amazing deal.
We paid rent on time every month - if not early. We did not cause issues. We kept the place in good condition. This, apparently, was not enough for the rental company.

In any case, yeah, letter, return receipt, small claims court, blah blah blah. Good luck.

I can't offer any suggestions that others haven't already pointed out. I had to mention statutes to my most recent landlord because she tried to screw us out of our deposit. I was told that I was bothering her, and that she'd been in the business for 25 years and therefore, I clearly had no idea what I was talking about. Luckily I have a close friend who is an attorney. It took him calling her (citing the same statutes I had, mind you) and forwarding a letter with his law firm's letterhead, citing those same statutes, for her to back down. So, it might be beneficial to have an attorney ring your landlord- he/she may be taken more seriously. Good luck. What a pain!
