Yeah that's crazy, only problem here is if we end up losing we're pretty SOL. The main guy owns about 95% of the apartment complexes around here. We'll still challenge him on it though.
Oh we have statements from five people (one's actually a lawyer) saying there's no odour, they've signed, dated and provided phone numbers in case they need to be contacted.
And there's nothing under the carpet, every few days we move it and clean under it just to make sure.
Maybe this is just me getting fixated on a pointless detail as usual, but how do you "hide" invisible damage? Isn't it...already invisible? How could you be expected to know about it? What, exactly, are they accusing you of?
Okay, my mother had a 2400 square foot house completely carpeted for $3000. It was a few years back, yes, but still, there's no way it would cost $4,400 to carpet anything. And that stain? Chances is that it'll come out in a steam clean. Besides that, the carpet looks good, especially for having cats. I'm so glad I have dark carpet, let's say that. X.x

Unless something terrible occurred under the green rug, the carpet looks great.
If you can, it might be helpful to have friends, visitors sight a notarized statement saying there is no odor.
