Grawr to you Schnucks Pharmacy

This evening I went to the pharmacy inside of Schnucks grocery store to pick up a prescription. There were three people waiting at the pharmacy when I arrived, and one person came in right behind me making a line of five people total ( Read more... )

I would wonder if they didn't have the generic on hand.

Yeah, that was my first though. Pharmacies run out of stuff.

Granted I only worked in a pharmacy for one day, and that was (oh god) eight years ago, but it happens.

If they were out, that is fine. Based on the conversation the pharmacist was having with the customer she was helping and her overall attitude, I decided I would rather pay the extra $10 and save myself the aggravation.

How do you know if the pharmacist was literally doing nothing? :/

Because I could see her, through the window, doing nothing. Nothing in her hands no computer in front of her, no phone up to her ear. Nothing.

Could she have been on a break?

If so it was a really poor place to take it. She was sitting on a stool, and she was watching the technician check people out.

I actually was a Schnucks employee at one point in my life so I know that there is a large designated break room for all breaks. Pharmacists, bank employees, and other non-Schnucks employees that work in the building are permitted to use the break room. :)

That sucks, but they probably didn't have the generic on hand. I bet most people opt to buy the generic! I wouldn't have switched you without your permission.

I have always been asked if I wanted the generic or not. I usually go for the name brand (school insurance).

I have always been asked in the past too, which is why I was surprised they changed it. The technician didn't even point out the change to me - I noticed that she had the brand name box as opposed to the generic bottle and asked about it. Otherwise it wouldn't have been mentioned at all. :/

If the technician would have mentioned the change and confirmed that it was okay with me without my having to bring it up, I would have thanked her for letting me know, and I would have paid for the name brand without complaint. Probably not the worst service ever, but it could have gone a lot better. I imagine it also could have been a lot worse if the grumpy pharmacist would have waited on me instead of the person behind me. :P

I think you might have over reacted a little, and a little bit of patience might have done you some good. I almost wonder from your attitude here if there wasn't a bit of customer suck thrown in there too. =/

Personally I think you should have waited, as it might have been a perfectly legitimate reason, or a mix up that could have been easily fixed. In cases like this, I try to give benefit of the doubt.

Wow. The pharmacist sat for 20 minutes staring into space not moving? I would have been concerned. I mean, she could have been having an out of body experience and no one noticed!

Or, maybe that part is exaggerated and the OP was just a little impatient.
