From hell...

Edit: I just spoke to Priceline and they are refusing to refund me the money. Not only that, but they refuse to re-evaluate the hotel, take it off their website, or even investigate my circumstances. I asked how they rate hotels and give them stars, and you know what he told me? It's based off information that the hotel provides. DO NOT USE PRICELINE! (and if you want to email them and complain after seeing this entry, I would love you!)

Bad service on two parts -- the hotel, and Priceline. Priceline sucks because they refuse to give me a refund regardless of the fact that this is obviously a health hazard, and that I have pictures of proof. They also refuse to take it off their website, and toted this hotel as 3-stars when I booked there!

The hotel itself is suck because, well, look at the pictures and read the description. I'm posting my review that is also on tripadvisor.com. For all those wanting to go to Puerto Rico -- stay away from the San Juan Beach Hotel!!

Here's a teaser of what's to come.

This hotel was the worst hotel I have ever stayed at in my life -- including cheap hostels. I booked it through Priceline as a 3-star hotel, but it is not even a 1-star. Please look at my pictures to corroborate my story.

A friend and I booked a hotel through Priceline's name your own price, and got a 3-star called the San Juan Beach Hotel. When we arrived, it looked fine from the outside. We checked in, were told the elevator had stopped working, and had to lug our luggage up 4 flights of stairs.

When we got to the room, it seemed gross, but doable. All of the fixtures were rusted to no end, the lampshades were all burnt, and the towel holder in the shower was gross. Still, we were okay with it. We put our stuff down and left for the day.

When we arrived back that evening, I noticed that the air had become thick, but attributed it to the air conditioning. I then noticed that the mirror was soaking wet. I assumed that the maid had simply forgotten to wipe it down after spraying it, but my friend said that it looked like dew. I then went to pick up a sweater I had left in the room and found that it was beyond damp -- not soaking wet, but certainly not dry (which is how I left it!) My friend picked up a tourguide we had left in the room, and all the pages had bent because it was wet. I sat on my bed, and the bedspread was wet. The walls were wet. The furniture in the room was wet.

We looked up, and the ceiling was covered in black mildew. By this point, we were thoroughly grossed out. We pulled back the bed sheets to discover that my friend's bed had BLOOD on the sheets. My bedspread was ripped all over the place, and the sheets were also wet.

We called Priceline.com, who said they would try to change us hotels. They said they could get us a refund for the next 2 nights, but not the 1st. We agreed to this only because we were promised a better room by the hotel for that night.

We get to the next room. The first thing we notice is that all the fixtures are the same -- rusted, with the lampshades burned. The next thing we noticed was that THE DOOR HAD NO LOCK. I don't know if someone had stolen it or it had fallen off, but the door was missing a lock. We pulled back my bed -- there was no top sheet. We pulled back my friend's bed -- there was no blanket. Then, we look on the drapes and they are covered in a white mildew or fungus. We figured that it was only one night, so we sucked it up and went to sleep.

The next morning, we discovered the dresser was covered with hundreds of ants. We had to give the little guys credit -- we were on the 8th floor, and it must take a lot of courage to make it up 80 feet to get into our room!

We left the hotel and went to the Radisson Ambassador down the street -- rated the same star level by Priceline.com, but world's apart.

My issue is that I want to be refunded for the first night of my stay in that horror story of a hotel. I called Priceline.com and they have been nothing but rude and unhelpful. I'm unsure of where to go from here. Besides a refund, I also want Priceline.com to at least re-evaluate this hotel, if not take it off of their website completely.

I've been contacted by at least 2 other people who have stayed at the hotel and had the same experience as I have.

This hotel is not only of disgusting quality, but it is a health hazard (mildew) and safety issue (no lock?!)! And Priceline refuses to do ANYTHING.

THIS HOTEL IS A HEALTH HAZARD. DO NOT STAY HERE. IF YOU HAVE BOOKED THROUGH PRICELINE, CALL IMMEDIATELY AND COMPLAIN.

It's hard to see, but the walls were wet.

The chair was wet from the mildew! And the air was very, very thick.

In our 2nd room, this bed had no sheets.

And this bed had no blankets!

This was the towel holder in the shower. It had two towels total for the room -- nothing for the floor, no hand towels, and the towels barely fit around our bodies!

The second room had no lock.

This was how the mirror looked when we got back to the room after a day out.

The drapes in the 2nd room. Not much better than the first!

More of the drapes.

Hard to see, but there was black mildew covering the ceiling.

The lampshade, burnt to a crisp!

Who wouldn't want to stay here??

All of the fixtures in the room looked like this.

Do not walk barefoot in this hotel...

Did I mention the blood on the sheets?

Or the rips in the bedspread?

We woke up to a few hundred ants in the 2nd room...gotta give those little guys credit for getting up 8 stories!
