At least they put up a trigger warning though it shouldn't have been so damn vague. That alone will chase off a lot of players.

Sexual slavery, rape, sexual abuse, assault, and torture for the most part don't bother me since a few f them are kinks of mine but its all in how its handled and not every one is comfortable with said kinks. From what I can tell all the triggery stuff is lightly treated and used as plot hooks and the like.

A basic summary of the Weyr is only men are allowed to Impress and basically all women are slaves. Is this GOR thinly disguised at Pern? Yuck

Expensive color-coded slave bracelets. Seriously, how many miners and blacksmiths are being forced to provide jewelry for every non-rider in the Weyr, since apparently even crafters and healers are sporting some to protect them from being raped? Even making a lock and key would be some intricate work for pre-industrial craftsmen, even if the bracelets are just alloys that are colored gold/silver. (Not to mention if they are gold? Wow, what a pain in the neck, considering how malleable gold is.)

Correct me if I'm wrong about canon, but haven't baby Pernese dragons Impressed people in the stands before because the candidates were unsuitable? And that's led to a number of 'Shit now what?' arcs when someone who the humans thought was unsuitable was perfectly fine with the dragons?

I mean, maybe when the site admins want to create Dragons of Gor I shouldn't be worried about the canon facts of Pernese dragons. (Not to mention where the hell are the other Weyrs in this? Seems like there'd be words with Ranking Goldrider turning Fort Weyr into his own personal kingdom slash harem.)

I'd make a comment about what happened to the dragons fighting alien life-eating thread element of the setting, rather than the sexual politics, but I think that boat has sailed long ago.

That is correct. The qualifications for candidacy in a Weyr tend to be far stricter than reality. They've Impressed older and to the "wrong" gender all the time rather than die.

Which makes sense to me, given IIRC the original specifications were pretty much 'larger fire-lizards that can be directed by humans', and baby dragons (especially bronzes and golds) who required very specific matches for partners would be less likely to survive to pass on their finickiness than those who can cast about for anyone who will do.

And, heck, I recall Lessa deliberately having older candidates stand as part of her 'let's bend the rules and see what the dragons' limits are rather than rely on tradition' when she knew that winter Thread was coming and having older trainees meant you just had to wait until their dragons matured.

Of course, Lessa would eat this Weyr for breakfast.

In a word: Ruth The White Dragon.

In another: F'Lessan he wasn't on the sands when the dragons hatched due to an injured leg, but he still Impressed on his first try.

I'm not using RP canon but Anne McCaffrey's canon what I can recall offhand.

I could see the logic for the male-only Impressions if it were "only men are allowed anywhere near the eggs at all ever because the leader's a dick", but that's still a shitty thing that aggravates the sexism inherent in Pern canon. Adding everything else to it makes a site that made me physically ill when I came across it (which was before the warning went up! So that was a "fun" read). Didn't know about the cbox clusterfuck, though; do you have transcripts for that?

...Plus most of this place's info reads like the set-up for someone's fapping material. There's that, too.
