So, I'm RP'ing in WoW with someone I -thought- was supposed to be a Blood Elf (since he's playing one, and all). We've RP'ed several times before, and he could be a little too silly with some things, but it was still alright. But that changed tonight ( Read more... )

"Hahaha, that's a good one! You almost had me there for a second! You're so creative with your stories. Tell me another!"

And then treat him like he's still 'joking' every time he brings it up. After a while though, have your character get seriously worried about his mental health and bring in a priest to try to fix him.

I like this. XD

Also, visit warcraftsues. Sadly, you'll find this sort of thing isn't entirely uncommon.

I feel it's an appropriate response to that kind of RP behavior. It's how others would react in the real world if someone came up with that kind of tale about themselves. :D

Preeeetty much. I've even done it NOT as anything bad, just because it IS an ic reaction, with one of my magical girl characters currently in a multifandom game.

It's all ~secret~ in her world so she still does the whole HA HA HA WHAT A STORY NO ONE COULD BELIEVE THAT HA HA HA to other people's backgrounds. (Well, at first. She's been there awhile now and realized all this weird stuff is suddenly the norm, so she accepts it more. BUT THE POINT STANDS.)

LOL

At least when I play my character from Ragnarok Online, I do it in places where portals/multiverses/etc are a possibility.

Turn tail and start quietly avoiding him before this gets weird (experience dictates: it will.)

We get these occasionally on wowsues, and the consensus seems to be, yeah, run.

They rarely turn out to be 'decent' OOC either; you'll find that out the first time you try to talk to them about their RP.

Oh, and you'll be an "uncreative elitist" who has "no imagination" for not accepting it. If you're lucky, they'll pull the, "Well, if you were my friend you'd accept it!" or "all RP is good RP."

At which point, you just turn around and walk away.

I'm reminded of a fic that had a blood elf as a studnet at Hogwarts. And it wasn't a joke.
