EDIT: WARNING! I am NOT PC When I rant. If you are easily offended by terms hat seem mysogynistic, misandrynistic, etc, then it is probably best that you skip this rant all together.

Now I use this term for you because well, the most immature and whiniest of the larpers in this group are not nearly as whiney as you have been acting. You act as a ( Read more... )

I really hope that this post doesn't break rule #1, as this poster has provided ample entertainment over the last few days.

Though, honestly, I stopped reading at Even the female larpers act more mature, rational, and not nearly as whiney as you have been acting. The implication that you expect the female larpers to act immature, irrational and whiney is a pretty big turn off for me.

Ooh yeaah.. Ouch. How could I have forgotten about that rule. Wow, I am am idiot. In this case.. Gotta wonder which words count as offensive to a gender and what doesn't. I've known some to take offense to the words dear, sweetheart, doll, tomboy.

I know one or two posters that take offense to the word twat even though there are tags using those words here!

Yeah, there's a lot of grey in the way that rule is written, especially since it almost seems to conflict with the fact that this isn't a safe space. If I had to guess, it's probably meant to discourage blatant ___-isms. But, that's just me, guessing. A random user.

If you enjoy the comm, better to err on the side of safety though. Thanks for modifying your post.

That's kinda how I thought it was too. For me, my rants never actually reflect my personal beliefs or attitudes. They are just hate and anger induced rants with little to no structure or aim and so in return I never look at anyone else's rants and honestly think that they believe certain things or think certain ways unless proven otherwise.

George Takei, why are you so awesome?

Even better: I actually heard the "You are a douchebag." in his voice.

So, like, ignoring the ridiculous nitpicking on terminology (Really, guys? REALLY?! Eeeesh... *eyeroll*) I totally feel your pain on this one. Is there no way you can get him tossed for OOC/IC blurring and clear harassment of other players? NO ONE in a LARP should get to make another player cry like that. Ever. Idiocy destroys games like that- I don't know why Larpers (or other rpers, for that matter!) put up with it. It's like we set ourselves up to be these groups that will take anybody and we're afraid that if we reject anyone than we're being horrible meanieheads and 'abusing the spirit of rp' or something.

I think part of this has to do with geek social fallacies: http://www.plausiblydeniable.com/opinion/gsf.html

Once you've realised that you're under no obligation to be friends with someone because they're a geek too, it makes booting off the assholes so much easier.

The whole "we share an interest so we have to be friends!" mentality is one I never understood. Just because you (generic "you", not wbicepuppy "you") happen to like something that I do doesn't mean you're automatically a good person in my eyes. Conversely, you're not a bad person if you don't.

0.0 Wow, someone took my thoughts, made them read-able, and wrote them on the internet!!! *laughs* Thank you for sharing this site, it's much appreciated! This is something I've had -years- worth of trouble explaining to friends/family/fellow RPers when I've had to play the 'bad cop' admin/guild officer/storyteller/GM- or when I've had to petition as a player to remove another player. ...I have rants on top of rants I could write about this kind of thing.

*toddles off to read this in depth, muttering like an absentminded professor* Fascinating!
