Lets' say, hypothetically, that you're in an X-men RP. Character applications are posted to the OOC comm, so the approval process is relatively transparent. Generally this is a good thing (I think), but occasionally it can make one's brain hurt. Case in point ( Read more... )

but daddy i wanted a pony, bad character bio, buy a clue, i didn't read the rules, x-men

She needs to meet WutDude. Their babies would be shakespearean acting runway models with like 50 powers. And awesome hair.

I think WutDude has left the game. No posts at all from him since the party. Huh, the one time we need him, he bails.

And this is why I won't miss vetting apps or being an Admin on an X-Men game.

This is why I was such a fan of the New Mutants back in the day. They all had one power, and they had to figure out how to make that power work for the situation, or utilize teamwork.

Sunspot, for example, was super strong. But, he was a durable as the next guy.

My late ex-BF was a HUGE Cypher fan back in the day. He kept hypothesizing about Doug being able to "read" body language when it came to combat.

As of now that's canon, since Doug came back in Necrosha. ;) (and he did read body language in a poker game in original New Mutants stuff)

My first thought is that they're trying to app for a Superman-type character. I know powers are finite in type and application (and I think Superman already has a Marvel counterpart), but that's just a little on the too close side.

Brings back to mind some of the apps I had to go through as a mod *shudder* I feel your mod's pain.

There are a couple of "flying brick" types in the X-men canon. This power set is more or less directly copied from Miss Marvel aka Carol Danvers.

Oh wait. The new character's first anme is Carol too. And she has the same color and style of hair, same color eyes...same build...

Hmmm
