I've seen worse than cherry optics.

But even on me, 'crepuscular beams' is a new one.

"crepuscular rays" is a photography term, which refers to the spread effect you get when the sun is low in the sky and shines through an obstacle (like a tree).

tl;dr: I get what they meant, but what they said was "I abuse thesauri."
