I think OP meant that s/he spent a great deal of time and effort to detail the intended character, probably to give the other a clear idea, and was rewarded with a two word reply that wasn't helpful or informative in the least and was, in fact, over all, completely redundant.
I could be wrong, but from similar experiences... I get the feeling that was the idea.
