I loathe playing fights with people like that (and sadly my current game is full of them) because I, like you, allow my characters to get hurt. (A shocking thing, I know!)
It's not a petty thing to moan about at all, because it's a fucking annoying thing to have happen to you. And it's something that happens way to fucking often too.
I feel better knowing that other people get annoyed by this. I just know that, as much as my character feels he is, he isn't invincible or any kind of superhero! He can get hurt and shit like that could fucking kill him.
I mostly play robots, of the killer kind but also of the Quirky Mini-Boss Squad kind, so the fact that it happens with normal as dirt characters grinds my gears. But I am glad to see that folks who I don't know are well aware that, yes, the characters they play will get hurt. I internet fistbump you good sir/ma'am.
That sort of player is always obnoxious. (It gets even worse when they decide their character shall take no damage and always come out on top in cases where they should be at a severe disadvantage, too.)
Sure I have stabbed people and such but the outcome of the attacks has always been up to the other person as I do not control them, nor do I want to.
I think you need an "your honour" in there somewhere: "Sure I have stabbed people and such, your honour, but the outcome of the attacks have always been up to the other person as I do not control them, nor do I want to. "

And yes, it does happen way too much in roleplay.
