There's been many times where I've wanted to pull him up for it. But Panda and him are friends in real life and Panda doesn't want to say anything. He's convinced that Three will eventually get bettet, stop turning out the same characters over and over again. But it's been a year since the first one and the other members of the group are yet to notice any difference.

This would be because he doesn't see any reason to change, since no one's telling him "no, it's not okay to do that". He can't learn what isn't being taught.

That's basically what I'm saying - that we need to tell him this.

Do you really think that no one is going to notice that Cedric Diggory is alive again? Really?

Dude, he should have been allowed just so you could bug that character endlessly with "OHMYGOD CEDRIC YOU'RE ALIVE!" until he left in frustration 8D

Even if it weren't against the rules - the creator asked for models not celebrities

Ughughugh I hate rules like that, seriously. Especially since I tend to draw my own icons if the character is non-canon or lacks visual representation-- I wouldn't even know where to find pictures of models.

My sympathy on the second one, ugh. I totally know what it's like to play against the same character over and over and over @_@ (or the same two, my boyfriend plays both I AM TSUNTSUN AND VIOLENT AND POSSIBLY EVIL, I WILL STAB YOU and I AM DEREDERE AND SMALL AND GAY AND PROBABLY ALBINO, PLZ SEX ME).

I can't imagine using most models...

I like using celebrities for my PBs simply because of the costumes and expressions they can get. Most models tend to either have the utterly straight face/distant look or else the "SMILE WIDE FOR THE CAMERA" press pictures.

You rarely find, say, a model looking angry or upset...

But, naturally, to each their own.

This is a terrible rule. What about actors who got their start as models? Like oh, a lot of them? Or actors who are just as amazing when modeling, like Tilda Swinton? Why not just say "No PBs who have already been in the series" since that seems like it would cover the purpose?

actually godmoded my characters a few times
Annnd did you tell him and ask him not to? Its your character. Say "please don't godmod me", regardless of who his friends are. Do you know for sure that he didn't get permission from 'Panda' and Panda is the one who didn't ask you? What you describe is REALLY far from just accidental godmodding, no way would any somewhat-reasonable rper ever do that without some inkling that its ok.

Erm, excuse me? So I play a girl character and she automatically has to engage in an epic true love story?Maybe something in his phrasing implied that, but from the way you put it here it doesn't look like that at all. It looks like since she was the ( ... )

Also, actors? Tend to have a better range of expression than models.

The expression thing may not be an issue- this could be a forum game or something where people don't pick a different icon and they only need one so I can see them not considering that. But you did remind me of another problem with that rule. The most 'popular' (read: high paid, most likely to have their picture plastered everywhere and be easily found by someone looking for a PB) tend to have a specific body type and specific facial traits. Everyone will be either model-pretty or model-unusual, unless they allow cropping of random people out of Sears or stock photos or something. "Celebrities" also isn't the same as "actors", which means no one who got famous for something not necessarily acting, which most people would consider models to be. It may not be an issue for that particular game, but allowing actors or even just actor-models opens up the ability for period costumes in icons (so no more "every icon is her gazing lustily into the camera in avant-garde clothes" iconsets).

tl;dr bad rule, mods-of-ops-HP-game

Umpteenthing that the 'model PBs only' rule is a terrible rule. I generally hate PBs on a whole (hooray for drawing one's characters!) but if I absolutely had to choose one I'll generally pick an actor or sometimes a musician over a model because their pictures often have the most character to them, actual expressions and emotions instead of what I've come to think of as "the Zoolander look". Even if it's just a single icon for a forum game, I'd rather have any picture I use, drawn or otherwise, expressing something of the character's personality instead of staring blankly into the distance.
