It’s fine if you’ve got this circle of friends going in the group! Really, it is! Happy for you! Everybody has a selection of people they like to RP with best! That's not a problem at all

§1; Public knowledge: they are RPing a journey through dangerous lands... Me, just logging in: How's the RP, hmm? P1iCoF: Pretty boring, you wouldn't like it... ...5 mins later... P2iCoF: Any RP? P1iCoF: We're RPing [here], come join!
...And my character was P1's "bodyguard", for F sake... >.<
§2; P1iCoF, on RP match-making channel: I want to RP. Me: Yeah me too... P1iCoF: It's so hard to find RPers here! Me: Well I don't really agree with that... P1iCoF: I want to RP! But [P2iCoF] is at Pizza Hut eating! ... >.< ...it's not so hard to find RPers if you'd just look elsewhere too, than just those in your circle of friends...
The sad part? Sometimes on games, this sort of behavior is necessitated. Not necesarily this instance in particular, but I know of people who WILL NOT RP with certain people because, well, the people they don't want to RP with are douche bags.
What server are you on? I know of three guilds like that, if not more, on my server. You would think after people bailing and informing the server they do this they would cease, but they have not yet done so.
My personal favorite is when you have a week to start posting after your character's accepted. So you look through the open threads ... and find only one that's seen a post in the last fortnight. Granted, it's been a few days even for that one, but beggars can't be choosers, right? So you think up a logical way for your pup to join the party and PM the two players involved (the thread is marked open, but just to be polite). The only one who bothers to reply says that they're just about to wrap it up and don't need anybody 'shoving in' (exact words) now.

Me: Wanna RP? *shows off a few shiny characters for people to chose from*
Crickets chirp in IC land for the next hour, but things are humming OOCly with people even bitching about lack of RP going on.
Someone more shiny than me enters: Wanna RP?
Half a dozen people jump all over them.
Then they bitch at me when I go elsewhere seeking RP. I can't imagine why I would do such a thing.
