Parelli... Need I say more?

Oct 24, 2013 23:13

A lot of you might have seen this already, but when I first started hearing about Parelli most of their questionable videos had disappeared into thin air. Then this gem surfaced on the web. Linda P. at her "best".
If you can find one thing right with this video, I'll buy one of those damn carrot shticks and eat it.

Is that horse missing an eye or is the video throwing me off?

Also: fuck everything about this. I hate Parelli with a burning passion/

I have a friend who does "Parelli" not its not what I think of when I think Parelli. Her horse is GOOD. Its like she's taken all the good things from Parelli and thrown out all the stupid BS.

9 times out of 10, I see absolute atrocious horsemanship from those drinking the Parelli Kool-Aide.

Side note, I went to a clinic with the above friend. Pat seems to be fairly decent (I do think he as an individual is a very good horseman with a few flaws, from what I saw), but I cannot stand Linda. She just has this vibe of being condescending to everyone and everything around her. Like she has some mystical revelation she'd love to share with us, but we're sadly too stupid to understand.

The issue is the fact that they're tried to take the skills that one person (Pat) has gathered from many years of experience and some natural talent, and repackage it as something anyone can do. Its like trying to become a doctor from an online course - it ain't gonna go so well! And there are some major fails in their marketing and programs.

I really don't understand what in the everloving hell she is trying to communicate to this horse. Bless his heart, I hope they gave up on him and sold him to a good home.

This looks like a good advert for "Headshyness for Dummies", the prequel to the fan favorite "Rearing for Dummies".

At first it was like they didn't want him walking in at the guy, but when the horse backed up there was no release just more rope slapping. Like, I get the horse was all up in their bubble at times but reward even a tiny step back, don't just keep wailing. The poor horse was confused as hell... I guess toward the end she achieved her desired result of a horse that pretty much wanted nothing else to do with her. Horses that crowd are a pet peeve of mine too but there are less chaotic ways to get them off you.

Really sad when at 1:15 the horse takes one step toward the owner, obviously not being rude but needing reassurance and gets more flailing and confusion thrown his way.

Posted this on the YouTube comments but it's so true - when I boarded at a public barn, if I saw anyone doing Parelli crap I instantly knew who not to ride with, because their horses were wrecks. Parelli fries the horse's brain so they end up just as stupid and unable to cope as the idiot thinking it's a valid method of training.

oh i thought this was a 'how to teach my horse to be headshy' clinic?

for laughs, in the beginning watch the fat buckskin in the upper right politely refuse to walk over a log. he just stands there like "yep. this is not happening".

Totally didn't see the buckskin the first time through. His trainer- on the other hand- seemed to be handling the refusal much better than Linda was handling the mess she created...
