Caution- teenage I'm so wonderful/angst to follow....

I received a message from another LJ user who suggested this person for inclusion here as her videos are so infuriating!

My internet connection is playing up at the moment but this much I worked out...

Here is her original horse which OBVIOUSLY appreciates her riding technique...

A month in and she's already training to jump? I'm also entertained by her inability to train a horse to lunge even after a month. She also seems really rough in her hands if he constantly backs up like that and tosses his head.

She is going to get kicked in the head with a lunging technique like that. I understand maybe not having a round pen and teaching a horse to lunge, I had to do the same thing, but that shit is atrocious.
Also, the comments on those videos are mind boggling.
"You are so perfect!"
wat?????????

The sad things is, from what I can tell of any riding she actually does, she seems to have a fantastic seat so she's got lots of potential.. such a shame..

What is it with people thinking that the ability to make your horse rear is supposed to be displayed like a great skill? *facepalm*
Also, lunging with a chain shank? WTF?

Also, have you seen this?

loving that her major concern is: "Please don't take my audio, I mixed it and put the quote in."

That is an awful Coldplay cover, haha! And I'm worried that she is going to angst herself into a black hole. Oh, those dumb teen years...

Oh..wow..

What is the general consensus about lunging in a nose chain? I've never done it and never seen it done - so seeing so many teenagers on youtube doing it is very odd to me. I just feel like you could really hurt their nose?

I know some lunge lines have stud chains built in instead of just a clip, but I DO NOT like them for lunging at all. I have been working with a Fjord gelding who was broke to ride and drive about 6-7 years ago, but only really driven by his current owners for he last 5 years or so. I've been working with him to get him ridable again. I think of him as green-broke, as he drives well, but gets nervous under-saddle and is still getting used to the feel of legs around his sides, weight/balance of a rider, etc ( ... )

I've done it with a stallion who's idea of a fun time was rearing straight up and clapping his hooves together (over my head.), It was purely for safety, who know what he would have pulled if there was no chain. One or two others, if you were lunging them in a head collar instead of a bridle, needed the chain so they didn't pull me down the arena, but generally I would lunge them in a bridle, even the stallion I preferred in the bridle.

It seems the chains are a real 'in' thing atm, and looking in from the outside (being not from the US), I would imagine its because of teenagers like this girl having horses that are far to hot for them to deal with and not having anyone around to show them how to actually fix it (or the horse is dead broke, but it shied at a plastic bag that one time, and is now deemed 'wild' so has to wear a chain all the time, because god forbid pookie steps on the precious little darlings 1200$ boots!!)

I bet you the majority of horses wearing chains would be fine if someone actually knew how to lead them
