what i see is a basically beginner rider who is over-posting as joansies said and who moves around way too much at the canter. she really needs to work on holding two point over ground poles before she does even these little crossrails. she's just not ready for them yet.
Riding a long time and owning a horse does not always means there was any constructive learning going on. She could've been cowboying the pony around in her backyard for 5 years.
Yeah - most of my riding was at a crap stable where other than lessons where we were just told to "get his nose down!" and "Heels down!" we rode around with no supervision for hours. Now, spending my free time hopping on anything in the pasture that I could get a halter on gave me a very secure seat, but also a shitton of bad habits that had to be broken once I got to a competent trainer.
Hahaha. As someone who's been a horse owner for six years now, and riding for a little longer, this statement couldn't be more than true. I feel like a pretty good rider now, especially since I'm riding more regularly than I ever have before so I'm more fit, but it hasn't always been that way.
Just because you've been riding for X amount of years doesn't mean you have that many years worth of experience. Know from first hand experience. ;)
