I just had to add this one. I cracked up when she said "ooww, my face" ... Ya think?

Maybe I have a cruel sense of humor or something.

I just thought it was so funny how the rider freaked out and was then made to get off. xD I mean, yeah, that would be scary. I've had problems with horses backing up before even when I've had hardly any contact. But I thought it was hillarious. I know that a nervous "whoah" is not going to stop my own horse... But regardless, after the horse as stopped I think it's time to let up.

Exactly.

Once the horse has stopped, give him a moment or two to take a deep breath, pat him, and then quietly canter to your jump again.

Throwing a tantrum is a.) ridiculous and b) counterproductive.

3rd video. Oh my God I would have been pissing my pants if a horse did that to me. I've ridden horses that get pretty out of control, but only when jumping, and not THAT out of control. 0_0 I can't see myself, or my instructor letting a horse get to that point to begin with, but I'm pretty sure as soon as I realized I was not regaining my control, I'd be running the horse into the wall or pulling a one rein stop on him.

Man, this. He was fully bolting for awhie there. What confused me was that there were a couple of time where she seemed to have him pretty much back under control, but didn't actually seem to try to bring him back from a canter. Maybe she was and it just didn't look like it. I dunno.
And the first thing that should have been done was to get all the other horses out of the way, but there was one that just kept on going, haha.

My (now retired from arthritis that we didn't know he had at the time!) TB used to do this to me once in a while. He was absolutely bananas under saddle, and I dealt with it, but it's SERIOUSLY un-fun when you're fifteen years old, your batshit crazy instructor is screaming at you to "kick him harder" (wtf? even naive fifteen-year-old-me knew this was not a good plan), and you have absolutely no breaks as your horse bombs around the ring like a bat outta hell. Freaky.

I really thought that girl was gonna be able to bring him down a couple times there. I thought it was weird she sat the bucks at a full-out run but lost it at the turn... not sure if she just lost her balance or decided it was time to bail before she died? I was impressed by her riding though!

The XxEndurancexX videos are always good for a laugh. So much stupid at one barn. I can't even wrap my head around it.

As for the gray horse. I keep wanting to shout, "SIT UP. ONE REIN STOP!!!" It looks like the rider finally just gave up.

I was thinking the same thing except:

"Brace. Find the corner. CRANK."

The fact the little bay pony was still galloping along made the video fail on the trainer's part as well.

The race horse girls accents just made me happy. I love british accents. Their "race across the field" didn't bother me though.

i love how in the third video, the instructor doesn't even get up from his little box. what the hell, really? Plus, she KNOWS by the second time around that the horse is going to bolt down the long side and isnt doing anything to counter act it. Which may not be bad riding, just bad instruction.. :(

Hehe. Maybe he wasn't even watching that side... or he just enjoys seeing poeple fall. xD I know I do... Every time I go to a horse show (especially jumping) I hope to see somebody fall. Just not me. Haha. I'm such a bitch sometimes. Iremembero ne time though tehre was a lady at a local show who needed to fall. She was in the warm-up ring trying to jump a HUGE oxer on a horse who clearly couldn't do it. The horserefused once, twice, and she fell off the second time. THEN she went into the show ring to do her course! Guess what? The first oxer comes up and she falls. ;)

Back on track. ^_^
