OK, so i just got out of my political science class and my prof was talking about the issue of proposition 2, whether or not the Texas State Constitution should be amended to define marriage as solely between one man and one woman. First of all, some states acknowledge common-law marriages which according to "christians" would be in disobedience to their religion. I don't see these Christains so fervent in riding of this law. By trying to ban gay marriages, they are judging it as wrong and they are doing so according to their beliefs. There is a distinct separation between church and state. After all, we are given the freedom of religion, so why are we trying to take this privilege away? What argument do these religious nutjobs have anyway? I've heard anywhere from it would only encourage others to participate in homosexual acts (according to some christians this will lead you only to hell) to they aren't sufficient parents...or people is what they are really trying to say. These arguments obviously have no support behind them. Even an online dictionary recognizes the event of same-sex marriages: A union between two persons having the customary but usually not the legal force of marriage- a same-sex marriage.
