And yet again, I am disappointed by the world. I also do not have an angry enough icon.

I. Am. Disgusted.

A 15 year old girl was gang raped outside of a homecoming dance in California. Instead of helping her out, some fucking sickos decided to join in.

Investigators said as many as 15 people, all males, stood around watching the assault, but did not call police or help the victim, a 15-year-old student at Richmond High School in ( Read more... )

I... am so disgusted and can't wrap my head around this right now. People are despicable. It's sad to see such a lack of humanity on this planet.

Exactly. I mean, I understand the whole mob-mentality (not that that excuses anything) but it's like they said on CSI, where an airplane full of people beat a man to death: It took this number of people to kill him, but it only would have taken one to stop it.

I just. When you hear about this, you don't go running off to join it.

Okay so you know how I said on Elyssa's status that I didn't think I could cry? WELL I WAS WRONG.

This makes me so unspeakably angry. Just, sometimes I wonder how we're ever going to make this world okay Jenny, I really do.

I actually didn't because I haven't gotten on Facebook yet, but I was nearly sobbing before class. It was terrible.

Me too. It's just. I don't even know. And the only way we can is if we don't let the discouragement get the best of us. We have to stay strong and speak out, even when we're faced with people who just want to beat us down.

I will direct you to my comment here. But yes, you don't just go ~join the fun with this kind of shit. You do something. I think every single person who didn't stop it or who heard about it and joined should be held accountable.

Thank god for that one person who overhead the ~reminiscing of the event and called the police. This shit should never be taken lightly.

This part makes me wonder what the school/community is going to do in reaction: "Charles Ramsey, a member of the Richmond school board, said the school district bears some responsibility for the attack. School administrators and police apparently weren't watching the area as they should have, Ramsey said."

I mean, you send your 9th grader to a dance and... I really have no words. Thank you for highlighting the story, though, I had missed it and you're right, word of things like this HAS to get out there.

I hope they're held responsible, too. Not as much as the people who actually did it, but they should feel guilty. I just don't understand how they missed a gang rape that lasted for two plus hours.

It just depresses me. I am so disappointed in humanity right now. You're welcome, I'm just sorry that there is still this sort of thing to highlight and talk about.

On one hand, I hope this story goes away quickly so the poor girl can try to heal. On the other hand, I want this story to get as much coverage as those stupid stories like the balloon boy. This is actual news, something people need to be aware of, not some stupid family who were just trying to get attention.

The world makes me so very, very angry.
