Nice.

"It’s entangled in his legs, between his fingers. His belly and thighs are on fire. His body is becoming flame in the night air, which is cool as the tangled roots that hold the jungle together, and he is as hard, thick."

Really beautiful.

Please warn for spoilers should any crop up in future parts (not that there were any in this!) I get very twitchy being woefully behind S3.

I'm glad you liked it! I was actually a little bit nervous about the bit you quoted; trying to transcribe that kind of sensation is always difficult for me, so I'm very happy that it worked for you.

Thanks for the heads-up on the spoiler warning (not to mention the feedback); I should have remembered one. If it's at all encouraging, the allusions to the fights and the Others in this part are mainly speculative. (Actually, I'm just hoping the whole thing doesn't get Jossed...)

oh, I am glad you posted this, I was curious, giving the preview we had (that I still find extremely hot).

and 7 parts? sounds great! :)

I've read a couple of reunions with family and friends, but this is really great

There’s a little cluster of people standing in a cordoned-off area outside one of the warehouses. His mother is among them, a study in restraint: widow’s suit, hair back, face impassive. But when he closes the distance between them she squeezes her eyes shut, just for a second, and gasps, then hugs him so long and so tightly than he can barely breathe. When he manages to extricate himself, she can’t take her eyes off him ( ... )

Glad the preview kept you warm;), and that this bit worked for you as well. It's especially good to hear that the reunion bit worked for you - I find it incredibly tricky to meet the need for some degree of closure (or grounds for opening) without getting all This Is Your Life and overwrought. (Yes, I am thanking heaven for editing.;) As for the other Losties, I can't promise a full exploration of all their post-islands fates in this one, but they will definitely be flitting in and out of the picture.

Thanks so much!

(finally getting to read this, sorry! You'll soon get used to the fact that I never read things on 'time' *g*)

I love the atmosphere of this, you have a wonderfully flowing style to your writing - the weaving of past and present is especially well done.

I also love the idea that the survivors would end up settling near to each other, that makes perfect sense, them all needing that sense of safety in numbers that was born on the island.

Your description of Jack's mother is gorgeously vivid, I could see her standing there in my mind as I read it.

I really like this... off I go to read part 2!

No apologies warranted - punctuality is for robots anyway. Glad you enjoyed!

I'm happy to hear that Jack's mom worked for you; it's hard to get a reading on her from what little we've been given in canon to day. She does seem to love her son, but I get the impression that there are some problems in their relationship as well. Given that she stayed married to Christian Shephard for however many years...

I have always felt like it would be natural for the survivors to stay close together post-island (assuming that ever happens) - they've been through something defining and traumatic that other people just aren't going to be able to understand.

Thanks for stopping by!

Nothing like being late to the party, but since I've acquired a love for Jack/Sayid lately, I thought it was due time I read the Jack/Sayid series out there! I love the beginning of this, and especially Jack moving in between dreams and reality, being lost in the warmth and then waking with Sayid so close.

And of course, I'm a sucker for anything that includes Marc Silverman, so the mention of him brought about much yay! from me.

Now onwards to the next parts! I've got a lot of catching up to do.

Hey, I'm always late to the party! The dream bit was, I think, the first thing I ever wrote in this fandom, so it was a pretty big leap for me... I'm very glad you like it!

This is gorgeous. I really like the way you're shifting between times -- the "now" of the story and the "then" -- it feels very much like the fictional equivalent of the flashbacks that are such a critical part of the show.

I like the happy ending you're creating for all of them here. I like the idea of all of them near enough to one another to lean on each other, to call on each other, but each with their own lives in and around LA.

And the way you show us Jack and Sayid initially coming together (er, pardon the pun) -- lovely!!

That's definitely a big part of what attracted me to the format. I do wish canon would give us more happy-enough endings... but that's what fanfic is for, right? ;) Seriously, I'm very glad to hear that you're enjoying this.

Thank you. *blushes.* Jack and Sayid are lovely as well.
