her name is Adele and she's ... and Homonculus of Huey IIRC.

Adele is very shy but talkative around people she knows well.

She fights Maria in The Slash and has an advantage because, as every Fire Emblem fan knows, spears provide a 20% hit bonus against swords.

That scene in episode 1 is from The Slash part 1 -- i.e., after the events of episodes 14-16. It's just there to make us all emo because there probably won't be another season of the anime.
