Well! If you're just tuning in, Tabitha Omega broke my game and as such,
Week 10 had to be replayed. I'm sticking to the
original Week 10 as best as I can, though there are minor differences 'cause that's how TS2 rolls.
With that in mind, here's
a short re-cap of events for the Omega, Patchwork and Bruty families.
The Omega Family
Not a lot happened in this week, since not a lot happened originally. To start, the family lived in blissful ignorance RE: how close Tabitha came to being permanently erased from existence. Sigh.
She came really close. Tabitha's lucky I like her.
Anyway, things moseyed along at a fairly mundane pace. Amelia and Nebula went to the Bakery, which I'd forgotten was at Rank 10, and did respectable trade there. Omega Park (see Omega's previous week 10 for details) was sold back to the community but remains the property of the Omega family on paper. This is for a few reasons. For one, I wasn't actually that happy with making it a gym/bar place, I think that's better suited to a separate lot. I decided to keep it as a proper park, and I wanted a working coffee barista, which you can't do with an owned lot 'cause Maxis is silly. There's no money to be made from a park, anyway. So the Omegas, starting week 11, will pay an arbitrary $500 a week to cover the cost of wages and maintenance at the park. They'll own it as far as my records are concerned, but don't have the deed to the place in-game.
The money the family got from selling the lot will, in Week 11, be placed straight into the University fund. From now on, I'll do this with all money made from selling back community lots. This should help rack funds up pretty quickly, which I am totally okay with. :3
The main events of interest from this week feature both girls finding teenage love interests. Tabitha met and developed a crush on Wendy Boyle:
While Luna met the guy above, Ratna Clark. They're all one-bolters. Luna is a Romance sim, so Ratna will not be the first or the last, but I think I like the idea of matching her with Zac Torrisi. We'll wait and see if any two or three bolters barge into the picture.
Joseph Omega grew into a teenager, which I don't have a picture of because either I forgot, or culled it. Either way, he looks exactly the same, right down to the same clothes. He is still a Family sim,and his original LTW was to marry off 6 kids. Now, it's to graduate 3 kids from college. I have a pretty good idea of what I want him to do as an adult and I think I'll have a college by then, so this is fine.
In lieu of an actual date, Tabitha snuck out with Wendy on sunday night.
It ended well. I think I might install the risky sneak out mod, since I have the risky runaway but it's never used. That'll be next week, though.
The Omega (2) Family
Ivy and Damion went on their holiday to Three Lakes.
They woohooed before going and consequently, Ivy was incubating much earlier than originally planned. Having a pregnant sim on a vacation is a bit of a chore, since their needs deteriorate much faster than the average sim. No matter, all parties survived.
Once home, Ivy rejoined the business career. She got about 3 promotions during the week, and might get all the way to the top to unlock a 3rd BD (after Bluebelle and Steven Confetti).
One night, they got burgled.
Didn't work. :P
The pair needed 7k to make the community lot I wanted them to have and I figured out a way to do it, but since they didn't get it in the original week 10, they have to wait until week 11.
Incubation began:
And the crops got snowed on.
They ripened a day later, so Damion sold them all at $60 each. A poor return, but better than nothing.
Baby Alex was born, and to my pleasure turned out with the same genetics as the first time around.
On Day 7, I put Alex's room where the bathroom had been, and vice versa.
It worked out very nicely. He was actually born a day earlier, this time around. That's because Ivy originally got pregnant after the vacation, but this time around it happened before they went on vacation. As such, Alex had his birthday a whole day earlier - the evening of Day 7. :D
I don't think he's got a particularly attractive toddler face, but he does have a wonderful blend of his parent's facial features and genetics. Also squirrel cheeks. I'm very excited about him. C:
And that's it for Omega 2's lot.
The Patchwork Family
Just like past times, Luke practises his house husbandry whilst Kelly goes to save the world.
She got herself a 50k bonus at work on the first day, so Luke did me the favour of thanking her. (JUST LOOK AT HOW CUTE THEY ARE.) I left that money sitting in their bank funds for next week. It will either go towards another community lot, or the university fund.
Sophie grew up, Thomas reacted appropriately.
Andrea grew up too. I bought them an activity table, as part of an experiment in laying out furniture, and all three kids made good use of it. Sophie and Thomas also seemed to spend more time together than before, becoming pretty good friends along the way. I'm all for sibling harmony, so I'm glad of it.
A few days later, Thomas and Andrea both grew up. Thomas became a Knowledge sim once again. This time, his LTW is to max out seven skills. I redecorated the kid's rooms and I am much happier with the outcome this time around.
Thomas has a nice sports theme in his room, aided by some freshly
converted sports stuff from TS3. (I fucking LOVE how much TS3 stuff is being converted to TS2. It's completely rejuvenated the game.) Last time I went for a brighter green to go with the red, but I think the darker green is much better. I'm actually quite fond of the red/green/black theme - I think the strong colours suit Thomas.
The girls have a blue/yellow/white room - I recoloured the endtables from black to white after taking this picture. The effect is much nicer than the micellaneous pastel from before. The wallprint looks a bit weird with the skirting board, so next week I'll repaint to a different yellow that doesn't have that problem. Between them the girls have OTHs of Sport and Science, so I'll decorate the room accordingly as they get older.
On Day 6, the main Omega household was invited over, so the teens could hang out with Thomas. The Bruties came because Luke wanted to see them, and Jessica Hark and Aurora Crowley were invited over for the girls to play with. The Omega 2 household wouldn't fit among the guests, so they had to miss out. Fun was had by all.
Kelly came home from work to a room full of videogaming adults, lol. They all had dinner together, in the rather small kitchen. Perhaps not my best judgement...
And one-by-one, they all went home.
When I remember to, I like to use Day 7 as a family/socialising with other kids day, so various kids were invited over accordingly. Check it out, none of this was staged:
How cute is that? REALLY CUTE.
Probably the happiest family in Krow, this one.
The Bruty Family
This household starts in the few short hours before the family has their first kids.
Because none of the children had been born, the results are very different this time around. I'm okay with that.
The first thing I did was change the colour scheme of the kitchen, since I couldn't bear to look at the black-red-white any longer.
I also re-carpeted the nursery, since I wanted a jungle-ish theme for them and the white carpet looks pretty grim in retrospect.
I figured that since this is just a replay, as long as I stick to what happened to the sims (mostly), reno doesn't have to be on the seventh day. I'll be more strict with the rules in Week 11.
This was the last of their lovey-dovey moments for some time, as Harlequin gave birth shortly after. The biggest change here is that Harlequin actually gave birth to two boys (instead of two girls). I was going to reload, but just LOOK at the adorableness of the first kid.
Black with green eyes. OH YES. This is Aegirine, he'll probably be my favourite just because of the colour combo. Here's his brother, Borax.
I had high hopes for interesting faces from these two. A few days later, they were both toddlers.
Aegirine:
Borax:
I think they're both adorbs. C:
Harlequin had her second pregnancy, carrying twins again (just like in the original Week 10).
With Harlequin's birthing imminent, the boys got a sleeping pad each. Having two nurseries did seem rather pointless - and jesus, did it make things easier. I haven't yet caved to SmartMilk, since I'm unofficially waiting to either end the Xeno challenge or open the Science track before I use it. But toddler mats? Toddler mats goooooood.
A little while later, two more kids joined the family.
Celsian:
Datolite:
Celsian is a boy, and has the same genetics as Alex Omega. Datolite is a girl, with the same genetics as her brother Aegirine, but I'm okay with that.
Things turned fairly hectic with two toddlers and two babies, but for the most part it was manageable.
A few days later, all the children had their birthday at once. None of the kids grew up poorly, and they grew up with a range of skills. A few of them have pretty funky personalities; I'll detail those in Week 11.
Aegirine:
Borax:
Celsian:
Datolite:
I freaking LOVE Datolite. She's keeping that hair, it looks wicked on her (and here I mean wicked as in evil, lol). I'm interested to see how Celsian's face turns out as a kid, since he has Harlequin's nose but not much else. Borax seems to have a rather normal face which looks pretty awesome with that skin, and Aegirine has his mother's face, which looks really different with green skin instead of blue.
They all settled into a nice routine... kind of.
And basically, that was it.
------------
So, that's the first four households out of the way. I have to say, I much prefer documenting everything, instead of just posting highlights. It's a lot more work, but doing summaries like this... I dunno, it feels like you're missing out on SO MUCH in the game, even if that isn't necessarily true.
It's more practical in this case and I know that, since I'm just replaying the families and not actually changing much except where I don't have control, but it's not the saaaaame. :c I look forward to doing things properly in Week 11.
So next is the Torrisi lot and if their updates are sufficiently short, I'll also lump the Confettis, the Harks and the Cwiks with them. So it might be part 2, it might be part 2 and 3. We'll see.
Finally,
check out this awesome video using TS2 machinma (is that the right word?). I stumbled on it by accident, while looking up songs from Titan AE. TS2 videos are really not something I find interesting, but I think that's a really clever video. :3 Go forth, enjoy!
