Krow - Week 7 - The Confetti Family

Apr 28, 2011 16:22

Awesimsauce time! I've had this entry ready to go for about two days now, so let's get on with it. :D

Bluebelle had a wish for another baby, which I locked in immediately. 8| She also wanted to make a zombie out of Saxo, lol. On the other hand, Steven both wanted a baby and feared having one. Dude - you're a Family Sim, and you don't have a secondary aspiration. That fear makes no sense.

They have a whole $41 simoleons, so Bluebelle scurried off to the flower shop to earn some money for the family, while Steven taught Lupine how to talk.

She had to run it on her own for a while, since she couldn't afford to bring in her staff. It was really hard. :C Restocking, ringing people up and trying to make sales all at once? Impossible. Fortunately, after an hour or two enough money had been scraped together to afford hiring the employees.

I'm quite certain that Bluebelle is a Witch Magnet. This was the second witch to visit this session. :C Of course there were cockroaches, so the business closed early and Bluebelle went on an extermination mission.

She went home after, a little richer but plenty tired. Steven had coped quite well in her absence. Family sims. 8D

I was expecting Bluebelle to go to bed, but lol, I forgot she was employed. Off to work, then!

Ohhh. You were doing so well, Steven, 'til you left Lupine on his own so you could sleep. 8|

Bluebelle was just about ready to pass out by the time she got home from work, so Lupine had to keep himself occupied until Steven got up. In the morning, she was off to work again. Steven spent the day looking after Lupine.

Oh, good job Bluebelle. :D I was getting a bit worried, but I think this pregnancy might be a bit borked anyway, considering that she didn't get her maternity leave message and this pop occurred around... 48 hours into the pregnancy, instead of 24. I can't really tell without immediate comparison but it also doesn't look like a stage 1 pop. But, I could be crazy.

On Day 3 Bluebelle wasn't sent to work, so maybe the pregnancy isn't as borked as I thought. She spent the day learning about Lifelong Happiness, per her wishes. Steven practised making flowers, and Lupine... did various toddler things.

And in the evening!

A little baby girl - much to my pleasure. :D Her name is Jacaranda, after the tree that has beautiful purple flowers in the late winter/early spring. She has purple eyes, just like mum, and blonde hair like her brother. I'll probably make her red-headed when she's older, fair warning. 8D

It was also time for Lupine's birthday. Technically he had a day to go, but he'd learnt everything and there was no point in buying a second crib when it would only be needed for one day.

Lupine grew up in mid-gold, with 3 creativity points to his name. He's an Aquarius, which I might have mentioned earlier, with a fairly even personality.

Both parents immediately rolled a wish for another baby, but they can't have one. >:C

Lupine looks pretty good in purple though, lol.

The Purple Generation must have at least one wish fulfilled per day, which for the most part is pretty easy. They must also become Witches or Warlocks when they hit teenager stage, so it's probably just as well that Bluebelle is a magnet for them. I haven't had witches in a long, long time - I think this will be fun. :D

Day 4 started with Steven getting up at some ungodly hour to feed and change Jacaranda.

He stumbled back to bed, slept a little longer, and got up with the rest of the family.

Lupine's first day. :D Steven made more flowers not long after this, and right as I was contemplating whether it was worthwhile to send Bluebelle to her business... she went to work. 8| Thanks, love. Steven thus had the house to himself for a few hours.

I always love this interaction. :3

Ohhh I look forward to Day 7. :C House needs reno! They got an easel so that Lupine had something to do/build skills with, instead of bookcasing all the time. I'm fairly certain that Jacaranda will be the heir, but who knows what Lupine will end up doing. I do have an idea, and I think it would be great fun, but we'll see what happens. It has to do with one of the Torrisi boys. 8D

NEEDS RENO. :C

Steven spent a lot of time making flowers and then a lot of time raising his comfort, and as a whole, they did rather family-like things.

Steven really wants to get a job, but he can't. :C The hours would almost certainly conflict with Bluebelle's, and the family can't have a nanny because Krow has no such services yet. He'll get one after Jacaranda is grown up. :3

This is why I like mid-chemistry couples. :3 Enough that they canoodle and look cute, but not so much that it's all they ever do. Win win!

Steven went off to try running the business on his ownsome, since Bluebelle is far too inattentive to do it.

It didn't work very well - he's not the store owner, so restocking the crafted items was a no-go, even though those things were in his inventory. :C Sigh.

And this. UGH.

There were a LOT of flowers on these stands - but they vanish when they get restocked. Not just these specific stands, but other ones too. FFS. The store also can't turn a profit. Best idea is to just going to overhaul it and stop selling flowers - sell something else, instead. I think I'll make it a bookstore. :3

At home, Lupine began to make Portraits. :D Normally I forget to do this... we'll see how many generations I manage to remember for.

Look who grew up. :D

I like the red on her. :3 Haters to the left.

It was late in the evening but I sent Bluebelle to the store to convert it to something more useful and more functional. In other words: BOOKSTORE.

Better? I'm not sold on that type of bookcase, but it's the best I got for now. Alternatively they can buy a chessboard, or a magazine comic.

I gave it a quick little test run, and to my surprise they do actually buy individual books - not the bookcase itself. I never knew this! I LOVE BOOKSTORES.

The best part is that it doesn't appear to require a restocker. Less expense, oh yes!

This excited me so much that I almost burned my lunch. 8|

The store has probably about as much profit margin as the previous flower version, but I don't mind. This is way cooler. And what's more - once the kids are older I can send both parents simultaneously, one to be cashier and the other to be salesperson. That means no employees - plus no restocking fee. All profit! :D :D

It needs a name, though. :C I thought Awesome Paperbacks but that's lame. Ideas?

The evening was fairly quiet. In the morning, though... 8D RENO RENO RENO.

Ohhh, so much better.

The master room and bathroom stayed the same, although I did move their doors to be less route-blocky. The kitchen was moved to the back, where there's more space, and blue-ified in honour of the current generation. The table got another pair of chairs for the kids, and the flower arrangement stand was sold since it's not needed any more. Jacaranda got her own room, as did Lupine, and the interior was given a layer of stucco. It will get wallpapering next week.

All up the reno cost around $2500, since I resold most of the original building materials, recycled most windows, and didn't buy much new furniture. The layout should lend itself nicely to the addition of more storeys though, which is nice. :D

See, Bluebelle does do some parenting. XD

Both Steven and Lupine went to bed about 4pm. Naturally, they were up a few hours later. In order to correct their sleeping schedule, I took them to the bookstore for a few hours.

A bit of profit was made - nothing significant - and then they came home, suitably exhausted and ready for sleep.

Stats: Krow - Week 7
4 Households: Confetti, Omega, Patchwork and Torrisi.
5 Household Businesses: Omega Bar, Patchwork Patterns, Jackalope Grocery, Rotor (an electronic toy store) and Confetti Flowers a bookstore.
6 Community lots: Household Businesses +1 = Little Red Restaurant.
9 Job slots: Architecture (occupied) Athletic (occupied), Business x 3, Culinary, Law Enforcement x 2, Slacker (occupied).

The birth of Jacaranda means there are 20 Playables. With a multiplier of 3, the total population is 60. Whoo. :D

That's the end of Week 7 in Krow. :D I do have a spare CAS point but I'm saving that, so no new families just yet. I have ~plans~. ;D Anyway - next will be the Omega family, for Week 8.

week 7, family: confetti, challenge: awesimsauce
